I am thinking this can be a running thread...for anyone to post their best deal from the last day or so. What store and what did you get and a total. Hoping it will be fun and inspiring.
I went to Jewel (supervalu store) and did this:
10 Kraft Easy Mac cups 6 Kraft Bagelfuls 6 8 oz bags of Kraft shredded cheese 3 bags OreIda fries 1 OreIda Steams 12 Homelife plastic bags 15-20 ct Jewel brand doz eggs paid $4 and change (included tax)
Yesterday at Jewel: 12 Ragu sauces 6 Motts 6pack cups 1 3 pound Chicken breasts 4 TGI Fridays appetizers 2 Stouffers Lean Cuisine 2 California Kitchen Pizzas 3 Nestea 12 packs of bottles paid $3.88 with tax
Deal: Buy 8 boxes of GM Cereal and get instant $10 off and a coupon for $4 off your next purchase of milk.
The Purchase: $3.09 per box of Cheerios $24.72 for 8 boxes $14.72 after Instant $10 off $4.72 after Double* $1 coupons** x 5 (-$10) $1.72 after Single $1 coupons** x 3 (-$3)
Summary: 8 boxes of Cheerios and free gallon of milk for $1.72
Of course, we have WAY too much cheerios now... I'm thinking of donating some to a local shelter.
(actually, the deal is even better than this because the coupon really does take $4 off the milk; even if the milk is only $3.50... so it's really only $1.22!)
*Wednesdays are "Double up to 5 coupons" day at Pick n Save.
**Cheerios coupons from here. By the way, I think the Pick n Save doesn't like internet coupons so I tend to use the self-checkout where they scan just fine.
I don't have any current deals, but I have one from Food Lion from about a month ago, where I got 6 lbs of Land o Frost Premium turkey lunchmeat for free, another 6 lbs for half price; these were from a FS deal. I also got 3 free Palermo's Primo Thin pizzas, and 6 1 lb bags of free Purina Natural Choice cat food. My total was $14. The total was around $75 originally. I put most of the lunch meat in the freezer, as it was in vacuum-packed bags, it freezes very well. This was all just pure luck, as the pizza coupons were provided by the company, after I alerted them that they were sending out different coupons with their pizza push/pull stick, than was advertised. I never asked for anything, but they thanked me for alerting them, as the pizza sticks should have arrived with the correct coupon. Very nice family-owned company.
Cat food coupons were collected from Sunday inserts, I had around 20 in all that I traded for,and would have used more at FL, except they only had 6 on the shelf. The lunchmeat coupons came from a FS sweepstakes, every one who entered could download and print a coupon page with two coupons, one for a free pkg, the other for a $1 off. I was able to print 6 of these, and used all 12 coupons. FL had the lunchmeat on sale, so I was able to get the six bags at half off retail price with the sale and $1 off coupons. It's really hard to get good deals around here, because of mediocre sales and limited double and triple coupon policies. A lot don't accept internet coupons. Those of you who live in areas with lots of stores with more liberal coupon policies are lucky.

Would you consider posting which coupons/from where? Or how you structured the deal? Or how you manage your coupons? If it's too much trouble, I understand. But I will defnitely stay tuned (ie--read it regularly) if I get to see how folks are managing this. Thanks OP! PS--Is FS a competitor with FL?

what is wts? thanks for sharing any info. I have heard of people doing this but don't know how. I think it's great when I save 11 dollars. I would love some tips.
FS is a reference to a forum here on FatWallet, the Free stuff forum. FL was just a short cut for Food Lion, so I didn't have to keep typing out Food Lion. The Food Network sweepstakes that yielded the Land o Frost coupons was posted in the Free Stuff (FS) forum, as was the Palermo Pizza push-pull oven stick. The store I did my dealing at was Food Lion (FL).
I just did the Unilever/AWI deal that many stores participated in, and provided rebate forms in their ads. It ended today at my local Jubilee. Jubilee had Unilever products on sale, plus I had a coupon for the Snuggle Fabric Softener that came with a sample I received through the FS forum.
I bought: 2 jars of Hellman's Mayo @ $3.69 each on sale, regular $3.99 2 containers of Breyer's Ice Cream @ $3.00 each regular $5.99 1 bottle of Snuggle Fabric Softener @ $2.49 each regular $3.99
Used the 50¢ coupon, which was doubled to $1
Total for purchase was $14.87. I get back a $5 certificate to be used during a future purchase, so my cost for the above comes out to $9.87. Not a great deal, but a decent one. Sure beats paying $23.95 regular retail!
I agree that it helps if people show how they pull the deal together. I tried giving sources for my coupons, and the sales I took advantage of.
Grocery users should familiarize themselves with the freebies in FS, as you not only get lots of samples ( I lost track of when I last bought shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and toothpaste for myself), the samples come with coupons usually better than the Sunday inserts ones. A lot of coupons I use for things like cereal and pasta come from there. A survey for Barilla foods posted there gave me a free 1lb of pasta, and jar of sauce, each month for a year. General Mills cereal samples come with $1 off single box of cereal.
Check stores ads in your area, match coupons to sale items, take advantage of double and triple coupons, if you are lucky to have a store that takes them, and do refunds when available. These combined help to save you money.
Thanks, I use Free Stuff a lot, but never thought of it as FS. Also didn't know they offered better coupons. For neewbies, I've had great success with couponmom.com, which matches deals in your area (CVS, Walgreens, RiteAid, WalMart, Kroger) with SS and RP coupons (Smart Source and Red Plum-Sunday inserts). I cut out the ones that I definitely want to use (but may not find coordinating deals with) and file them in a separate place. Otherwise, don't have to cut out all the coupons, just mark each insert with date and file til mentioned in posts. iheart cvs.com also has good info. Always open to new strategies and examples of deals. Thanks for the info, SweetClover, and for the OP, Barb09.

WTs are Wine Tags...coupons that hang on bottles of wine. Some people collect them from the bottles...some people trade for them. I traded for mine. They were $5 off any pasta, olive oil, or pasta sauce exp 9/31.
They either hang on the bottles as hangtags or are tearpads on the shelf in front of the wine in the wine dept.

That's the Unilever deal I posted above, but mine was not an instrant deduction. I have to mail-in the rebate form with the cash register receipt, to get a savings certificate on a future purchase at the same store. I wish mine did do the instant deduction, wonder why it was done differently? Maybe Jubilee's registers couldn't be set up to do the instant deduction, and that is why they did the mail-in rebate form. Jubilee never has the instant deduction deals, but Food Lion and Weis's do. Food Lion has Catalina's, and Weis has some system that prints coupons right on the receipt, so maybe a store linking to one of those coupon services is required? Jubilee is a small 3-store chain, and doesn't have the register coupons. The 25th of August was the last day for the Unilever/AWI rebate here. It co-incided with the last weekly ad, which ended the 25th. Haven't seen it at any other stores, or I would do it again elsewhere.

Here is the secret to those deals (at least in my experience)
Our store does an instant deduction...but a store just North of me in another state does the same deal only it is a Buy 5 items get $7 off coupon. So, we go on a run and get a few of those coupons to use the coupon and the instant deduction. If another store had a rebate...heck, I would do that too!! LOL.
The most successful was our store had Heinz products at buy 5/$5 (if you bought in orders of 5). The other store had a Buy 5 items get $5 off coupon (manufacturer)...so, we used the coupon with our stores special and got all the items free.
This is today's morning order: (again Jewel/Supervalu store)
10 Kraft (good seasons) dressings ($2 each) 5 South Beach Dressing ($2 each) 5 Bagelfuls ($2 each) 7 Dove shampoos ($3.50) 20 Koolaid 13 Homelife Single roll toilet paper
I got $10 instant deductions for Kraft I used 10 Free Kraft dressing WYB 3 Krafts I used 5 $1/1 Bagelfuls (expired from the 4/13 inserts) 7-$2/1 Dove coupons (from recent inserts) 1-$1.50/1 Kraft dressing coupon (came with free coupon homemailer from Kraft) 5-$2 paper product wts 10-$1 oynso catalinas
paid just under $4 ($3.69 was tax) got $20 in oynso catalina coupons (10-$1 oynso for the Kraft good seasons, $3 oynso wyb 4 South Beach products, $7 WYB $20 in unilever products)

Our store had a spend $20 get $5 off instantly sale...I got $30 off instantly. My total for my orders was $3.59 ($1.59 was tax) and I got 3-$3 oynso catalinas so, I netted $5.41 in catalinas over what I paid.

My god!! Barb09 How many people in your household? That's alot of food. Cheap!! The only thing I can brag about is at Shoprite, Edy Dibs (10 packs) on sale for $2.99 and I had a coupon for $2.00 off. After paying, got a coupon for $2.00 off next shopping trip because I brought the Dibs.

Tangster, we had that too. But, if you bought 2 at a time you also got a $3/2 coupon...(ours were $5.99 b1g1) so, we paid .59 for each set of 2. I restrained myself to 12 packs, lol.
My basement looks like we are preparing for war, lol. If we had too I could lock the door and live inside and want for nothing (except maybe fresh veggies).
6 boxes of cereal free at Jubilee Foods Saturday. Used the AWI General Foods and AWI Quaker Foods Coupons in the weekly ad. First, the GM was for $6 off your order w/purchase of 4 boxes GM cereals. I bought the biggest box of Cheerios I could, and used the Coupon for the free box I got from the Cheerios Challenge thread in FS. Then bought 3 boxes of the Monster cereals (Frankenberry, Booberry, Count Chocula) on sale 2/$4, which came to 3/$6. The $6 off coupon, plus free Cheerios, made the GM cereals FREE!
The Quaker AWI was for $3 off when you purchase 5 participating products. I had a $1 off 2 boxes Chewey Granola bars I used. Cap'n Crunch cereal was BOGO Free. By the time I used the coupons on 2 boxes of cereal and 3 boxes of granola bars, the cereal ended up totally free, and the granola bars were $1.33 each. I have lots of cereal to feed 1 for a while.
I picked up a 6-pack of Fiber One Strawberry Yogurt cups for $1.50, normally $3.69. They were on sale for $2.50, I used the $1 off coupon that came with the Fiber One samples from FS forum. Not a great deal, but not bad at 25¢ per 6 oz cup.
$15.79 large size Neutrogena T-gel for $5.79 at CVS. $15.79 - $3 off $15 CVS coupon - $2 off manufacturer's coupon - $5 extra care buck (September buy $15 Neutrogena products get $5 ECB).
Last night CVS 90% off table has peach sour rings 2lb bags normally $5 had two coupons for buy 2 get $1 off bought 4 paid$2 got $2 off-free yipee The free after ECB in ad foundation I also had a $1 off coupon so for $4.96 I got 1 bottle foundation 8lbs peach rings +$5.96 ECB back
Sundown CoQ10 normally $7.39 got it for $0.69 at Publix - $7.39 - 50% off Sundown vitamins (advantage buy) - $3 off Sundown manufacturer's coupon (marked "redeem at Publix) = $0.69!

Catalinas have been sooooo easy to earn the last few weeks.
Last week buy 9 Progresso soups for $8.91 get a $10 catalina. I was doing this Buy 9 soups used 4 .50/2 coupons used 3-$2 catalinas paid $1.07 and got a $10 catalina
Turned a BUNCH of $2 cats into $10 cats and got LOTS AND LOTS of free soup. So, those are the $10 cats I am spending this week.

60 Glade gel plug ins. $90 30 B1G1 coupons...total $45 used 22 $2 catalinas. Earned $120 in catalinas...paid about $6 tax
The Glade deal ends tomorrow. I have a couple hundred $$s in cats left to spend from this alone.
Fuze teas were $1 Buy 4 get $3 catalina use 2 B1G1 coupons and 1 $2 catalina...pay .07 and get a $3 catalina.
For those that say coupons don't pay for milk, veggies, meat, etc...I remind that catalinas do! I put maybe $20-$25 cash into earning mosre than $500 in catalinas in 2 weeks. (we have to pay tax here on even food items)

I traded in $214 in catalinas for a $214 Jewel GC today! Now, the catalinas are coupons...but a GC has no expiration date AND covers taxes!!
$33 worth of General Mills products for $11 after double coupons ($10) and Think Pink mail-in rebate ($12). Multi Grain Cheerios, Lucky Charms, 5 Betty Crocker cake mixes, 4 Warm Delight Minis, 4 Betty Crocker Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cooky Mix Pouches, 3 cans Progresso Vegetable soup, 2 Nature Valley Granola bar boxes. You had to get 20 items for the $10 rebate.
I also received my $10 check from a previous General Mills Rebate. These rebates are forms printed in my local Jubilee Foods weekly sale ads. That one was the Dollar Days Rebate in September, and you had to buy 15 items. I bought about $24 worth of food on sale, to get 15 items, used doubled coupons I have to knock of $6, then got the $10 rebate. I bought 4 boxes of GM cereal (Fruity Cheerios, Fiber One Raisin Bran and Oat Clusters), 3 Nature Valley Granola bars boxes, 2 Yoplait yogurts (rebate limited you to 2) , and 6 cans of Progresso soup. Not bad for $8!
Almost $800 in the "beer" co. (no beer purchase required) "free money" rebates just since JUNE 08!!! I post these when I find them and have been for years. Think I have 6 of these posted in the grocery forum right now.
These are so easy. Basically you receives ALL of your money back for buying FOOD!!! Usually these are rebates for the food items you buy anyway-deli items, pizza, chicken, beef, salty snacks, seafood, etc. There is even 1 to buy a "pumpkin" and yet another to buy "mums" (flowers).
In the past the beer co. rebates amounted to maybe 6-8 per year, but recently (since this summer) the amount of these has just exploded. Think in Sept. and (so far) in Oct. there has been 12 different of these rebate offers.
