We want to continue to make our Grocery Forum better. As we move forward, we want to keep our members informed and involved. We’re going to keep a running list of our upcoming plans for the community.

Previously, we had 2 separate threads for all this. To see that history, check here and here. I’ve locked those threads to keep everything in one place (which is here).

This OP will be updated periodically with our most current “to do” list.

If you have suggestions, this is the place to offer them. We are always looking for ways that we can improve. We won't necessarily know what you need until you tell us! :)

Current To Do List
• Posting wizard
• Coupon database
• Moving online deals into an Online Grocery Deal category in Hot Deals
• Renaming the Grocery Coupons and Deals forum to something more fitting

Thanks for leaving a couple of recent grocery deals in Hot Deals for a little while before moving them to Grocery forum. I don't know if there are criteria for what stays or how long a thread stays in HD before moving. Is it the mod on duty at the time who decides? Is it based on time in HD or "hotness"? Once the deal hits Today: Hot Topics more people are likely to see it than if it's moved to Grocery right away.

Typically, if a grocery deal is in HD, we move it as soon as we see it. The "hotness" of the deal, moderator on duty, or even the hotness of the moderator on duty shouldn't come into play.

Last night the mod left the Amazon grocery deal in HD for several hours which means that thousands of folks saw it. Mod even locked and unlocked the thread but left it in HD. Good decision. The thread is not full of "its been at SD for hours" comments and so far there haven't been multiple reposts about the deal as happened w/ the Amazon August grocery deal.

Eventually, we will move all online grocery back into HD.

It can't happen soon enough! Too many deals are getting missed over here I'm afraid to say.

What's wrong with cross-posting? Other boards do it so that people who only look in certain forums won't miss a good deal. All that would have to be done is state it in the original post that it's been cross-posted in both HD & GC or Contests & Freebies.

alot of extra work and lots of "fighting" over reposts IMO are the pitfalls of that.

I am wondering what is meant by a coupon 'database'.

pilotchase1 said: I am wondering what is meant by a coupon 'database'.

When I put the project in, it was for a place to store, and hold any coupon information that a user put in (coupon name, exp date, what it was for, etc.). This allows users to search the database for information on a specific coupon. This would be totally populated by the community.

What would be really nice is some sort of expired thread date so if for example mister cheap does a great thread of CVS deals that end sept 20th it would no longer show in the main page after say sep 22. I keep looking for the next weeks CVS or walgreens thread but it is hard as the people here are so many months ahead that a search for CVs it is 4 pages before I find next weeks thread.

Voting them dead, so it gets the dead icon could help also.

A month later and not much news on this:

MISTERCHEAP says on 10/6/08:
I am rather disappointed the progress has been so slow and I really feel proper attention is not being paid to many of the deals in the grocery/coupon forum. Please make something happen here soon. Too much time has passed already.

Actually, we've already started moving everything over. Now, if it is an online grocery deal, it should be place in HD. Thanks for bringing this up again. I guess we forgot to say something to the people sharing deals. Sorry about that.

What happened to the Angelfood thread? I am asking because I remembered to ask a relevant question ( how aggressive their religious marketing is), and couldn't find where to place it.

g10ny, is this the thread you're referring to?

Thank you. Never crossed my mind the prospect of it belonging to the Hot Deals forum.

For the love of God, have seperate discussion/trading forums.

I'm excited, finally someone to get the nazi's off there high horse at HCW

8 months and no news. i guess no news is good news ie... this forum is still here

So, what is the plan for this so called "grocery" forum? Is it going to evolve into anything like SD? I alert mods all the time about grocery deals that are in hot deals and they refuse to move them here! What is the strategy? Are there any mods that actually watch over this forum?

Grocery should be renamed to grocery/drug store deals. The terms used here and the exclusiveness of the rebate programs just throw the people in hot deals for loops. They don't understand the Lingo and the uniqueness of the store specific rebate programs.

ANYBODY????

I see you posted this in two different locations. I've answered you here.

how 'bout filters for different grocery chains? that way we don't waste time looking through deals for stores we don't have access to....don't know if it's possible, but I think it'd be worth it.

If you look in the categories, we have a "store" listing. You should be able to filter using that.

thanks.

Earlier I used to see the Walgreens ads well in advance and it was very helpful in planning to make the best of deals. I didn't see any for 7/5-7/11 week or anything beyond that. What's going on? Have those guys got really tight lipped about their forthcoming deals?

Agreed. that's the major reason I visit this forum.

If you want grocery deals hcw is the place. Drug stores, SD. If you wanna see what SOM has for sale, fw.
