Bye Bye CVS, Welcome Walgreens in: General Discussion

I was an ardent fan of CVS but not any more, keeping in mind their new coupon policy and scarcity of any coupons. I remember the good old days when I used to walk out of the CVS paying some change for 20-30 dollors worth of stuff. But with Walgreens now sending coupons every fornight, I don't remember what was the lat time I went to CVS. Of course, Walgreens is favorite now. And especially using coupons with FAR items and then getting extra 10% via gift card (which is all legit), Walgreens seems to the choice (not to worry about ever expiring ECBs)...

How can we sign up for walgreens coupons ?

You get it via email if you are doing their rebate program or better search fatwallet for walgreens coupons. They are generally sent every fortnight and valid for 2-3 days.

I dont understand the red for this. As a true fatwalleter, just wanted to go to a better place with better deals and want all FWers to do it. I hope CVS brings back the deals and I would happy to go there. Nothing against CVS.

Although I shop at both stores, I find that CVS has much better deals (often with limits higher than 1), plus their Extra Bucks are much easier to redeem than the RR coupons that Walgreens gives, since ECB's don't count as manufacturer's coupons.

OP, I couldn't agree more... well, except that I was never a CVS/Eckerd fan in the first place. I've been a Walgreen's fan for years, even before I became a die-hard couponer & fatwalleter. Their service is better, their stores are cleaner, and I get all kinds of amazing deals on great stuff there. I'm never very impressed with the deals I find for CVS. Although I gotta say I get quite a bit of satisfaction out of tranferring one prescription for every member of my family there when they're running their promotion, getting a $30 gift card for each one, and then transferring them all back to Walgreen's the following month. *evil laugh*

Rats! I was hoping OP meant that Walgreen's rather than CVS was acquiring Longs.

CVS came into this area by taking over SavOn. Now the store is full of overpriced make-up and other "beauty products." Luckily Walgreen's recently opened a store near us....
