I live in Santa Clarita, Ca.
The CVS ads for the last 2 weeks list NO EXTRA BUCKS. The ads are different then the ones posted by others online.
I haven't seen anyone mention this.
What's going on??????

It's due to the Longs conversion. They will eventually come back.

No ECBs are printing in CA & NV due to Longs conversion. It has been confirmed in SD & HCW forum. We are out of luck till end of May, that's just a guess until we see the ECB on the ad.

I have total of $23 ECBs to spend before 5/19 and 5/23. Looks like I won't be able to recycle them.

What is Longs Conversion?

Apparently in Northern California and also Nevada, Longs Drugstores are converting into CVS Drugstores.

In SoCal too.

There are all kinds of rumors and theories, and the people who called the corporate or their stores were been fed all kinds of stories.... most of the clerks/managers don't know what's going on either. So we'll really have to wait till end of May to know for sure the real story. Until then, try to see if you have any rainchecks for old ecb offers, or if you know anyone out of state who can get you rainchecks to recycle your ebx. Good luck!

go to iheartcvs for next week's ca/nv ad scan. Not much of a deal, though.

Without the CVS Extra Bucks program to get items cheap or free, CVS becomes much less appealing of a store to shop at. Their everyday prices are quite high and there are much cheaper stores to frequent (such as Target, WalMart, etc.) for everyday low prices.

When Walgreens got rid of their monthly mail-in rebates it also turned me off in many ways to Walgreens. Rite Aid is our last hope. I hope they can stay in business so we can get some more freebies.

CVS' customer service really sucks. I had a $9.99 ECB that I wasn't paying attention to the date and it expired and CVS refused to extend the expiration date so I could use it. So a little warning to those with CVS ECBs: Watch the expiration dates carefully. If it expires even one day most stores will refuse to accept it.

Four years ago i lived for a while in SF Bay Area. There were two main pharmacy chains there: Longs Drugs and Rite Aid. Then I moved to the East Coast, where I found other two chains: Eckerds and CVS.
A year and so ago, Eckerds were bought out by the Rite Aid, and recently apparently CVS bought Longs.

Why blame CVS for something that was clearly your fault?

You should be able to buy something and then return it and get a gift card. Or find a glucose meter with a TMF rebate to cash it out.

I actually have no ECB at the moment. I cashed my last $10 out last Saturday and got the TMF Physicians Formula bronzer that was on sale B1G1F. Between that and no more WG (since I hate RR) I don't have to worry about going to the Drugstore chains, other than RA.

I'm not sure about buy-return-money card approach these days. On three occasions, the register wouldn't allow them to issue the full amount of my purchases.

They were from three different stores within the same week.

1st one was a price mistake that I caught while still in store after I paid everything with my ecbs. The assistant manager couldn't put the difference to a money card for refund.

The 2nd occasion was when I bought something thinking it'd produce ecbs, but it didn't, and the supervisor insisted it wasn't included in the ecb offer, so I asked for a refund, but the register again wouldn't allow the full amount refunded because I paid with ecbs.

Then the 3rd was when I bought something at regular price then realized I got the wrong one, so I tried to get it exchanged to the right one. But because I paid with ecbs, they would only refund me my oop (which was cents), and asked that I pay full price again for the item I want to exchange to. I said no way to the manager and left frustrated...

Just want to share a deal that works in CA:

Buy 2 of either Soft Soap or Irish Spring BW, and get $4 ecbs, the deal works! limit 5. There are $1.5 off RIB Qs for both BW (Jennifer Aniston cover issue), and if you also have $1 off Irish Spring crt, or a $2 off $6 BW purchase crt, or $3 off 2 BW purchases crt, this is a MM.

$3.99 x 2 - $1.5 x2 RIB MQs - $1 crt - $2 (or $3) crt =$1.98 (or $0.98) oop and get back $4 ecbs

Edit to update the $3.99 sale price is no longer available. This week they are the regular price, ($5.49 for SS, and $4.99 for IS) but the ecbs still print.

I had similar experiences recently. To begin with, one of the stores has huge signs all over the store saying they would only accept returns with receipts. So even though the price mistake was not my fault, the manager refused to do the no receipt return way. The other store manager was very apologetic about the overcharge, but she told me she can't do no receipt return when I suggested; they both mentioned to me about a memo from the district office forbidding no receipt returns.

So better check with your store their return policy before you decide to "revive" your ecbs this way.

Thanks all. I manages to spend $10 ECB on 2 4-bottle Starbucks Frapuccino and 1 Planter peanuts. Still have $13 to spend by 5/23. I think I will buy one of the free after rebate items posted in this forum with some fillers.

This weeks ad 5/17 - 5/23 has no ecb offers.

Only good thing I found was this meter Rebate to use up my ECB that will expire soon.

FreeStyle Blood Glucose Monitoring System $19.99
FreeStyle Blood Glucose Monitoring System, $19.99 MIR (found on-box)

Also, there is CVS brand Glucose Meter for $14.99 with $14.99MIR on box.

So if you guys need to cash out your Expiring ECB, this is the only easy way other than buy & return to get Money Card.

I wouldn't count on the ability of getting mail-in rebates for blood glucose monitors that you paid for with ECBs. It is a big YMMV. Some manufacturer's may pay you back only the money you actually paid out.
