see attached PDF, here are the highlights

from iamfrugal/sd below (PDF uploaded here by Mistercheap)

Our Rite Aid coupon issues are over!
I am SO happy now I can't even stand it!
I wrote twice to someone higher up at RA corporate, instead of going thru the website, and this is the response I got today. You all are going to want to print a copy of this, and sticky this thread probably.
I'll copy/paste plus try to attach a pdf

Hello XXXX,

I apologize that we did not get back to you sooner with a response to your email, when in fact we did immediate react to the issues you raised. Your original communication made us aware of the need to more effectively train our store teams on our recently modified coupon policies. Over the past several months we have begun using new promotional channels on the internet and have loosened previously conservative policies on coupon acceptance, but apparently did not do a thorough job in educating our stores teams.

Since your original email, we have begun to re-educate our teams around our new policies on coupon acceptance and in fact plan to send another communication package to the stores tomorrow. Tied with this, we have created a “Coupon Policy” for our customers that will be available at our stores upon request (I have attached a draft copy of this document).

Thank you for taking the time to pass along your observations, which became the catalyst for improvement. If you have any further problems in our stores or would like to pass along additional feedback, I would be happy to assist you. You can reach me either by email or at (XXX) XXX-5555.

Sincerely Yours,

VP, Store Operations

Rite Aid Pharmacy

Rite Aid Policy – Coupon Acceptance

To Our Valued Customers:

We gladly accept your manufacturer’s, Rite Aid "valuable" and Internet/Print at Home coupons in all Rite Aid stores as detailed in our coupon acceptance guidelines listed below:

GUIDELINES:

Multiple Coupons

We accept a manufacturer’s coupon and a Rite Aid coupon for the purchase of a single item. However, the coupon redemption amount can never exceed the value of the item.
We accept multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers.
We reserve the right to limit bulk purchases of items if the purchase will deplete our supply for other customers.
Buy One, Get One Free Coupons

We will accept a Buy One, Get One Free coupon for an item that is in our flyer as Buy One, Get One Free. The cash register will compute any sales tax due, which varies by state law.
Internet/Print at Home Coupons

We accept coupons printed off the internet from manufacturer’s websites, emails and coupon websites up to $5.00 off per item.
Rite Aid coupons are not considered internet/print at home coupons, even when they are printed from an internet site or an email, and are therefore not subject to the $5.00 limit.
Total Purchase Coupons

From time to time, Rite Aid features total purchase coupons which discount total purchases based upon meeting specific requirements. For example, $5 off a $25 purchase coupon.
Any manufacturer’s coupons presented with a total purchase coupon will be deducted after the purchase total has been determined.
We will accept more than one total purchase coupon as long as they are used in separate transactions with each transaction meeting the minimum purchase requirements. We reserve the right to limit the number of total purchase coupons that can be used in a given day.
Sale Items

We will accept a manufacturer’s or Rite Aid coupon for an item that is on sale.
In the event that the item is on sale for less than the value of the coupon, we accept the coupon for the retail price of the item. No Cash Back is given on coupons.
General

Coupons and their face value cannot be exchanged for cash
Competitor coupons are not accepted at Rite Aid.

Hi,

I noticed that they will accept "multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items".
If the manufacturer's coupon says "one per transaction" will they still accept multiple identical coupons? In the past I have used coupons for $3.00 off a six pack of Ensure. I purchased 4 six packs of Ensure on sale @ $6.99 each. Total $27.96 plus tax. $30.69. I used a Rite Aid coupon for $5 off $25 plus 4 manufacturer's coupons at $3.00 each. Total cost to me, 13.69. Most Rite Aid stores took them without a question. Then one day a clerk actually takes the time to read the coupon and tells me it's one coupon per transaction. She was apologetic and said that corporate was coming down on them. I hope it was just the one alert clerk and that most won't care.

all that means is....if you have 5 bottles of Tylenol and have 5 coupons, you can use 5 coupons. and most manu. coupons say "one per purchase" a purchase is not a transaction, so don't get the terms confused.

I'm glad you guys cleared that up, I always thought I could only use one of those coupons per transaction...! Very good timing since I just picked up 6 coupons, each for one free can of doggie food!

right, cashiers confuse "transaction" and purchase all the time.

Purchase is simply tied to "per item"...one coupon per purchase, means one per item. (or if coupon says $1 off 2 cans, each 2 cans is the required purchase)

obviously if you get 6 cans of dog food, you've purchased 6 cans in ONE transaction.

Managers can be just as bad, as you probably know.

Nice to see they detailed the B1G1F coupon/sale policy since I've had arguments over that. Of course, it does not help that their register does not allow you to end up at a zero total and will beep if you try to use a coupon that brings it down to zero. My wife was in a RA on Sunday picking up a circular, and she said that there was a customer arguing with the cashier about this, and she was saying something to the effect "it's not my problem that you have it on sale for that price".

I hope to have similar (hopefully) good news soon from A&P. I posted on their Facebook page about their Internet coupon policy, and pointed out how it was stupid that they still do not accept them given that their sister chain Pathmark advertises that they accept them. Someone from A&P responded that they are taking another look at the policy and should have an update soon.

I had a riteaid ee refused to take more than 1 coupon for the same product when I bought 2 at the same time. I told them each product was a purchase until I qa blue in the face but they had stones in their head or something and didn't want to listen.

Yesterday, I bought something and presented a Riteaid coupon for that item. The store clerk first said they don't accept printed coupons flat out. After awhile, he took the coupon to check with the mgr and after 15 min, came back and let me use it. Looks like the re-educating that was mentioned needs more work.

Does this mean that manufacturer's coupons will be deduted BEFORE the discount coupon (eg. 5 off 25) once all purchased items are scan?

no "after the purchase". so you're not penalized for it towards the required spend. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAND THE CASHIER THE $5 off $25 coupon FIRST to avoid any issues.

Thanks! Earlier this week I use 2 manu. coupon and a 5 off 20 RA coupon (from the video) for a transaction of 3 items. Even though I handed the dollar off coupon first, the cashier just spreaded all the coupons on the counter and scanned all manu. coupons first then told me I could not use the dollar off coupon because the total is less than $20 after manu. coupons. I told her that she should do the dollar off first but she insisted she did that right.

I hope your post will help next time. Thanks a lot!

I've met them.
They are unscrupulous and will make you wait forever (or until you've given up using the cpn), then think, act as if busy researching the store policies, then ask a mgr, and then with angry-looking faces, both of them scanning the coupon.

I keep coupons in two sets. One set I give to the cashier after the order's rung up. The second set I keep in my wallet. After the first set of coupons has gone through, I get the total and open my wallet to pay. Voila! The coupons fall out, and I say, "Oh, I forgot I had these, too."

I guess someone could void everything out and start again...

Trust me the exact same thing happened to me forgetting to give the coupon. the cashier wont ring up again as the huggies coupon was already applied and argued it wont work any more.. but I guess I looked too sad and she did something as another transaction and gave me $5 cash. Works for me..

word seems to be spreading fast. at riteaid in socal, the cashier asked the manager about scanning the $5 off 20 before the manu. coupons. the manager told him to scan the $5 off 20 first and then the manu. coupon, because the manu. coupon may bring the total below 20.

i did notice one thing at this riteaid. after scanning each coupon, he folded them up and stuffed them into a box right under the register. it seemed that if he needed to rescan, it would be difficult and time consuming to open the box up again and pull out the coupons.

For anyone having a cashier refuse letting you use 20 coupons on 20 identical items, citing the "one coupon per purchase excuse", I always do the same thing. Look behind you at the people in line and then say, "OK then, just ring them up in 20 different transactions". Works every time.

As far as using the Rite Aid $5 off $25 or similar, it's my business how I choose to order my coupons. Just tell the stupid cashier you insist they take that one first or call the manager.

My question for MC: If I buy an item that's B1G1, so I've taken two up to the checkout, can I use two manufacturer's coupons, one for the one I'm buying and one for the free one? It seems I've done that at CVS before.

2 coupons (say .75cents off 1) on BOGO at Rite Aid can be an issue because one item rings up at .00 usually as the free one. The coupon won't scan cause it's for more than the purchase price (the 2nd coupon). At CVS, they both ring up full price and then it's subtracted at the end which is why the coupon will typically scan. just a system issue I suppose.

When this happened to me, I asked for all of my coupons back and left all the items that I was going to purchase on the counter and left it for them to re-stock. I live in Los Angeles where there are plenty of Rite Aid stores within a few miles of each other, So it isn't a problem finding one that will take them the way you want them to.
