I don't know if I'm posting a right thread at the right forum, but I'm very interested in subscribed to newspapers, but I don't know which one to choose.

I'm kind of guy who does not read newspaper very often, so the purpose of me being a newspaper subscribers would be because I like the benefit of getting coupons each weekend so I can get discount everytime I go groceries shopping.

Even though I don't like reading newspaper, if I have to choose one to read, it would be USAToday, a national newspaper. The thing is I don't know if I'm allowed to subscribe to USAToday for just weekends or not. Even if I can, will USAToday give me as many as coupons as the local newspapers do?

Currently, I live in Munster, IN. It's Northwest of IN so it's pretty closed to Chicago, IL. Anyway, they have the local newspaper called "The Times" and they are guarantaed that they will give their subscribers coupons every week, but again, I prefer to subscribe to USAToday just because I'm more interested in the content in the USAToday than most of the local newspaper. However, I wouldn't mind subscribe to The Times if I can get more of coupon and cost me less. Apparently, they only deliver The Times on Wednesday and Sunday.

I only get my local Sunday paper - and that is only for the coupons. They offer subscription discounts every now and again, so that is when I sign up. If I am not subscribed, I can always pick up a paper at the gas station.

That was why I posted to ask you guys about this issue. Currently, The Times is now offering me a discount for subscription.

I don't think the USA Today publishes on weekends.
Go for the local newspaper and the deal they're offering.

National newspaper doesn't have coupons. You'll have to subscribe to local newspaper.

BTW, you won't get coupons EVERY week. There are no coupons most holiday weekends.

Zarut1 -

Don't worry about your English; it is adequate to communicate and I am sure it will improve with use and study. Also, I strongly suspect that you speak/write English better than most of us handle YOUR native language.

On your question, as others have said, for coupons, your best bet is a subscription for the Sunday only edition of a local paper.

Also, don't forget some of the online coupon sites for printable coupons. Most stores will accept them, but a few may not. A couple I use all the time are:

SmartSource.com

Coupons.com

If the only reason you want the paper is for coupons then your choice is pretty easy. On Sunday go out and buy all the newspapers you can get as delivery. See which ones carry the most coupons and get that one delivered. If say two papers carry the same coupon inserts than pick the cheaper one or which one you'd rather read.

In my area I can get Sunday only delivery. I don't feel like trudging off to get a paper.

also, if you don't subscribe and just want to buy papers when there are coupons in them, you can go to taylortownpreview.com - there's a schedule that details which weekends will have no coupon inserts (as earlier poster said, most holidays=no coupons).

That's a great idea.....

The Time, the local newspaper that is offered in area, only deliver Wednesday and Sunday so I guess it's not a bad idea to try it out.

I buy the St. Louis Post Dispatch on Sundays for the coupons. They charge $1.99 a week for a Sunday only subscription. Its $1.50 a copy at gas stations and stores. However, I recently learned that the dollar store sells it for $1.00. I now shop at the dollar store.

Shouldn't the subscription be cheaper than the retail store price? I mean they should give me a benefit of being a member by giving them a discount, don't you think?

However, I'm glad that things seem to work well for you!

Not necessarily. The Chicago Tribune is $1.99 now. But our dollar stores sell it for $1. SOMETIMES they have introductory subscription prices cheaper than that. But, $1 is the average for Wed/Sunday. If you want multiples it is WAY easier to get the at teh dollar store for $1.
