Intel Dual Core T4400, 3GB, 250GB, DVDRW, 15.6" eMachines Laptop, with HP MultiFunction Printer, 4GB PNY Flash Drive and a 15.6" Case All @$398 + $3.97 shipping! Haven't seen a bundle deal like at in months..
They sell the lappy by itself for $378, but $20 more for $70 worth of stuff is a home run. You can also add on a MS Office for $99 and get the free upgrade to 2010 when it comes out. Walmart.com Bundle Link
Available online ONLY! They have other laptops and bags to upgrade to for a higher price.
I have this same laptop when it was $350 and I love it, I haven't found any cons with it and it doesn't fail to meet my expectations when it comes to watching HD vids. I like the keyboard as well as the full numpad; this is a nice laptop to use for normal use, not for gaming or video editing.

I think it's you and you sound like you missed the eMachines deal at WalMart a couple of months ago. I can't tell what specs this HP has, but I'll take eMachines over HP anytime (given the same specs). The eMachines was sold for $299.99 and to me it's better than this bundle. However, this is still a good deal.

I have not had experience of eMachines, just know they are the budget end. But my 3 experiences of using and owning Dell laptops have not been good. I cannot fault their desktops but now always give a miss on their laptops due to heating issues and hardware failures. I have known others who eventually had hardware failures. All have been different models. I cannot speak for others but I did note a lot of laptops in their outlet store so wonder the reason for the high number of returns.
Regarding this deal for the price and stuff on offer, it sounds like a great deal for those on a budget. I was tempted by this but saw the OPs other post on the netbook and might go for that instead. Thanks OP.

The bundle price of $398 is with the eMachines as the laptop component as per the OP.

I got the 298 deal, its the same laptop as this one. Acer bought out emachines and they are much higher quality than they used to be 5-10 years ago. The build quality is really good for a 300-400 laptop. Mine has a WD scorpio drive and a lite on power supply. I forget who makes the dvd burner but it was a name brand too so its a really good laptop for the money. If you really dont need a printer then maybe you could do some waiting to find a laptop in the 350 range but a dual core pentium m is a hell of a lot better than the old days of celeron $400 laptops. Plus this thing has 64bit windows 7 installed and the intel 4500 graphics which aint much for games but it does accelerate flash with Adobe 10.1 and the CPU is more than enough to playback any HD videos in software anyways. Also the battery life has been 3.5 to 4 hours which is what its rated at or more and it doesnt get hot at all.
I wouldnt spend another 180 for the Dell. If I was getting something near $600 then I would get something closer to what I really want which would be around a 13" matte screen business type laptop but for 300 I couldnt pass this one up.

True for the HP. Shoddy soldering issues plague them. (there's a reason to this day they still lease Dells for their own HP enterprise services employees... think about it.)

298 was burning hot
but 398 with accessories is hot, especially if you needed a new printer, and bingcashback sealed the deal for me
should be a great 'kit' for granny/gramps or any kids (unless they are intense game players)
Thank you. Just ordered to replace wifes 8 y/o - $1100 - HP XP, 2GB Ram, CD-R only, laptop. Battery is dieing, power supply works now and then - $200 to replace. So, thanks to you, just got her a new laptop, bag, jump drive, and printer (hers is a hand-down from me, 10yrs old) for, essentialy, $200.
FOR Military MEMBERS.... Don't order the MS Office. Get it on base, or through AAFES web site, at half the price (they're clearing them out). You get the same MS Upgrade Offer for what ever version you buy.

There is nothing wrong with eMachines. I have had two eMachines in the past, and I did not have any failures with either of them. I still use an eMachines desktop that I purchased in October of 2005, and it runs very well... in fact, it runs Starcraft 2 pretty well.
If you are going to judge a computer, do not go by brand name. Instead, go by the components.

I used to think so until I bought WalMart's $298 laptop deal a while back. I actually use that laptop more than my Toshiba.

Dell has been a nightmare for me once I bought some laptops from them. The desktops I had were fine but Dell really gave me the worst CS with a true lemon Vostro 1500. I wrote about it in the computer forum already a few months ago.
bpanepucci said: I got my laptop and checked the hard drive size on the system information, and it says only 220GB? How can they advertise it as a 250gb?
It may be partitioned. Perhaps there is a recovery partition. Also when drives are formatted it does lose some space, a certain percentage per 1gb.

Emachines=Gateway=Acer = Plain old smelly crap. Stay away!
Ive had 2 acer"s for a couple of years now and are great machines. Excelent performance, price, no failures. The recent one an Acer aspire 4810tz-4696 I got on clerance new in box for $300. Cant find anything like that for less than $500.
All down to luck. The worst laptops I have used have been Dell's. The best one has been IBM. Currently using a Toshiba, out of the 2 Toshiba's I have used my only gripe has been the occasional touchpad issue not responding properly otherwise has been good.

I'm still using this laptop and it's still standing strong. I don't have any regrets purchasing this laptop for $350 until I went to WalMart a few days ago and noticed the same exact laptop WITH A WEBCAM for $350. It's not that I really need a webcam, just it would be nice to have. I didn't get a good look at the specs, but I don't think it had a built in mic which would kinda make the webcam useless IMO. I saw that some people put hackintosh on this machine, how is that working out for you all? The only thing I did on mine was add support for multitouch on the mousepad.
