I have the VGN-FW480J model. It broke, and Sony screwed me over on the warranty, charging $220 to fix a manufacturing defect. If you won't need the warranty, you should be happy with it.
except for blue ray this seems to be the same as the BF Best Buy deal for 2009, which was 399

The thing that worries me about this Sony is battery life. 3 hours is a shame for a good laptop like this.

Sony battery is generally not reliable. It will have only 1.5 to 2hrs max, run very hot and it will die after an year n half!
