Haha, you make me laugh. I had to rent their truck to bring it home, which cost me almost $30 with gas. Why would I want to spend another $30, and my time, returning it?
What you should do is make your brother/uncle/friend/significant other/sister/mom/dad/great grandpappy/whatever you wanted to bs us with pay you for it, since it's his/was purchased at his request remember? If he doesn't want it, HE can take it back. Problem solved!

Thanks OP. They had 8 in Southfield, MI at $149.99. I purchased 3. One for me, one for a friend, and sold the last for a little extra. They do not have any more today.
I went to my lowes with the receipt for a price match but the item on OP's receipt is last years model, and a non-stock item at my Lowe's so they can't pricematch. They had that SKU in their computers and it showed it went for sale at the end of the year for $149.99 after which they all sold out. The new SKU (314410) is $399.99 so for this deal you have to hope they still have the old SKU left. Otherwise, if anybody get this year's model pricematched for $149, please scan your receipt and make it available.

Me too! The guy looked high and low and in the back room but couldn't find the one they showed in stock. I'm thinking it's mixed in with the newer models on display. This years model (Lowes item #314410) is Char-Broil model #463247109, using google I think I found last years Char-Broil model is #463247109.
Can anyone that scored the OP's Lowes item #296458 verify it's a Char-Broil model #463247109 ? At least I'll know what I'm looking for since the grills don't seem to have a Lowes item number on them. Thanks so much.

Although the burners are guaranteed for life, everything else on it rusted out in 2 years, with it being cover when not in use. The carryover tubes (4 replaceable at $7 each) and the plates that hold the flame diverter (would have to replace entire firebowl) are completely rusted out. I am not even mentioning the cosmetic rust on the lid and just about everywhere else. Still a good deal at 150 but keep in mind that it is not 'commercial' quality.
You having it covered probable caused it to rust faster. I had a $99 grill last 5+ years and that includes being moved 3 times.
How to make even a cheap grill last.
First get some flat high temp grill paint. You want to paint the inside of the grill and the burners. Put about 2-3 thin coats one. Don’t paint the grill rack, where the food goes, but the bottom and burners need the paint as the juices and other fluids can get trapped in there and rust out. Even ones that say stainless steel need this as most use cheap low quality stainless steel, yes there are different types.
Next don’t use a cheap cover. Its better to not cover then use a cheap one. The cheap ones are nothing more than fancy trash bags. They don’t breath and cause the moisture to build up and basically create a steam room for your grill to live in. So get a GOOD cover or don’t get one at all. Also when not in use store near the house/shed/etc… to keep the hard rain and sun off. Higher temps and heavy rain again cause steel to rust faster.
Just doing that I had my cheap “1 year“ grill last 5+ years. I just got a nice one recently but still did all the same things I posted above.

At bare minimum you should paint the interior of any grill you purchase with a thin layer of vegetable oil and turn the grill on low for a couple of hours to cure it.
For everybody finding these at $399.99, that is for SKU 314410 (this year's model). OP's receipt was for SKU 296458 (last year's model) at $149.99. I think this deal is no go for this year's model unless somebody have a receipt showing SKU 314410 at $149.99.

The old Sku came up $149 at the Weymouth store, but they didn't have any in stock. They checked inventory and showed 3 in Seekonk and 14 in Wareham. I went to Wareham last night and they didn't have any. They said the inventory count was off. I was going to make a stink about coming from Weymouth and request a price match on the new model, but Lowes has been good to me over the years so I let it go. The other 14 stores in the region showed 0 in stock.
NEVER again will I buy a POS charbroil. 3 months in central florida and the "stainless" started rusting. COMPLETE GARBAGE AT ANY PRICE OTHER THAN FREE.

I found one at the Allen Park, MI store. They had 2 in a box on the top shelf. One is still left, nobody really knew they had these since there is no display. I was told that the Woodhaven store had at least one also.
Thanks OP. Got one #296458 for $149 at the Santa Fe Lowes. Kinda flimsy, made with very thin metal. I almost walked away without getting one, but I want to try the infared cooking system and maybe make hamburgers as good as Port of Call, New Orleans.
if your grill is not on a concrete patio, or on an elevated deck where the ground moisture can't get to it, it is probably best to leave it uncovered. A lot of people get a grill and put a cover on it and then let it sit on the bare ground, they don't last like that. The moisture comes up from the ground and it stays damp under the cover all the time.

Depends on where you are. I don't think it matters an awful lot here in Florida. The humidity gets everywhere and will condensate at night.
@Maxim1010 - You probably got a stainless look grill and not a true stainless steel grill. You have to be careful about that. I don't have any good way to store a grill and never have the money to blow on a great one, so I just end up getting a lower end one that has the features that I want and replacing it every 5 years. I leave it uncovered...I haven't found a grill cover (in my price range) yet that doesn't make a grill rust out faster.

Don't bother going to Wareham, they don't have any
How about someone score me one in Brooklyn & ship it to me; I will pay for shipping!

I've had one for a couple years and like it a lot. It gets REALLY hot REALLY fast (I'm talking 700 degrees with all three burners going full blast, and I think that's actually the air just under the grates), so it takes a little experimentation to figure out how to keep it at low temps. But no matter what I've grilled - steaks, burgers, sausages, veggies, fish - it's all come out great.
The side burner gets crazy hot really fast, too.

The OP's link to Lowe's and the product has the link.
They have an awesome armed forces discount, anywhere from 10-15 percent to make this deal sweeter. So call your military friend to run a quick errand with you.

No go at my local store in Charlotte, NC. Manager said "Great deal if I could get it I would. Can't give you that price"
Decided to hunt for one of these today. I was told Northbrook,Il had the last one in the district. It turned out to be the display model and it had some small dents on one corner, a small dimple dent on the control face and missing 1 grate. The sales guy offered to knock it down in price. He was really motivated, offered it to me for $75 and to get the missing parts replaced by taking them from the current display model. I needed to replace my the rusted out heat tent on my old grill for $30, so I'm gonna recycle the old grill instead. Thanks OP!
