SENNHEISER CX300B 3.5mm Connector Canal Headphone $24.99

I just bought Sennheiser CX500 last week from eBay for $16. Nice earphone with in-line volume control.

These were around $15 a year or so ago from Newegg. I got some but they didn't sound well enough. I wanted to get some CX500 but never found a good deal on any. I bought some CX500 from eBay, but then determined they were probably fake. I filed a paypal claim, and the seller through the claim said I could send them back for a refund (me pay shipping back), but I stupidly listened to Sennheiser who told me not to send them back to him, and to instead report the seller to the FBI and that I would get a refund that way. The FIB never did anything and I never got a refund, or ever even any contact from the FBI. Sennheiser wasn't worried about me; they just didn't want the seller to get and resell them. So Sennheiser's advice left me with fake earbuds and not getting my money back.

Sennheiser told me any on eBay that are cheap are fake. I believe they said 99% of any sold there are fake. So CX500 for $16 are fake.

I think I'll get some of the $340ish Altec Lansing rebadged Etymotic.

These headphones sound great and are comfortable to wear. The only thing I'd note is they have a slight boost in bass - but not to where I'd call it a negative - just noteworthy. I May pick up a second set later on just to have one on hand.
