Seems like a great deal.... just wish I had the time these days for this much escapist reading.

Does anyone know if you can download the comics and read them later? I've missed out on 15 years or so because I just didn't want to spend the money and store them.

On a side note, I think the industry can make a huge comeback if comics can be a bit less expensive than their current $3-$4 average and accessible on an iPad-like device. Actual comic book store owners may suffer less traffic, but I also believe that there will always be those that want to own the actual book. I personally would probably buy the first 10 issues and then read TPB or digital afterwards.

$47.90/year ($4.00/month) is amazing for this service!

I wonder what this looks like on an iPad. I read the Iron Man 1 preview, awesome!

Any idea on the expiration date of the coupon?

its a nice deal but it leaves you tethered to an internet connection so unless you wanna sit in starbucks or at home just to read comics this deal isn't for you. Since they took away spectacular spider-girl I quit my subscription.

my friend won an ipad at comic con this yr and it came preloaded with comics and a comic book reader. Looks amazing

The price of comic books nowadays is ridiculous. How do they expect to get the amount of readership they had in the late 80s/early 90s with that sort of pricing. Plus, what they've done to their characters is atrocious. How many times has Marvel stopped and then restarted their series now of all their characters?

Does this look good on an IPAD? I'm thinking of buying an IPAD just to read the past 20 years of comics I have missed.

I stopped buying also because I don't have room to store them

If I'm not mistaken, this Marvel Digital Comics subscription service uses a flash website, and therefore won't work on an iPad. There's a Marvel app for iPad made by Comixology, but there's no unlimited subscription like this, you have to purchase each issue.

It appears that it only works with an internet browser. I tried the free sample and it also doesn't allow you to zoom very much. I had a hard time reading the text. It has a text zoom feature, but it is more like a little magnifying glass that you move around the screen. For me it would be better to be able to zoom in more. See more detail etc. Maybe it would look better on a large 24 inch monitor?

I guess Marvel didn't get Steve Job's memo that all websites would be switched over to HTML 5 by now which should eliminate all need for Flash.

That being said... Such a service would be pretty sweet for ebooks/ipads (when available).

I imagine Marvel would rather leave the subscription site inaccessible to iPad, so they can try to sell a-la-carte instead. In any case, there's no reason to make the site iPad compliant, when they have a specific iPad app already.

I have a 22 inch monitor. Having read some of these on computer, even on a 22", i still find it annoying. So i would welcome an ipad type subscription (if i wasnt to cheap for a subscription and actually had an ipad )

Did you try rotating your monitor 90 degrees to view one page per screen? But yeah reading it on a monitor isn't even close to reading it on a personal device.

Good idea ....
