Searched FW and did not find this deal posted. My local Staples B&M has the Canon Pixma MX860 All-in-One printer on clearance for $79.80, regular price $199.99. Used the 10% off customer appreciation coupon and purchased one for $71.82 at Staples in No. California. Don't know if this clearance is nationwide, so YMMV.
jkrmer said: WhatsYoFlava said: Why not get a $25 off $75 coupon?
Thinking of doing this, any reason they may deny using the $25 off coupon because of clearance price???
Should be no problem, but as always it depends on the manager or CSR at that time.
Inventory check, cut & paste on browser (FW screws up the linkage) ----------> http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesStoreInventory?partNumber=779461
Thanks! FWIW I found it easier to call the 800-Staples number to help narrow down inventory near my location. Otherwise the link above just says "low stock" without a definitive answer. You must then call each store yourself to double check stock, or just stop by. I didn't want to take the time unless I was pretty sure they had stock. They did confirm price @ $79.80, may go lower if it takes a while to clear inventory. Most stores had a minimum of 6 on hand near me. Hope this helps someone...

Agreed. And before someone yells "DON'T CALL!" this isn't that amazing a price that the cashiers are going to quickly snap it up themselves.
I'm debating on getting this or the Epson Workforce 610 ($20 more). I'm guessing the MX860 is getting discontinued because of the MX870. Anyone know how the big the differences between the two are?

Link Drag the MX870 to the comparison window. I believe it also has a wheel in the control panel.
Just came back from Staples and they had several MX860 printers on clearance at the front table. None were on display for testing purposes. I demoed the MX870 and Epson Workforce 610 and thought the Epson was a better printer overall. So I ended buying the Epson which is $20 more. My total came out to $72 after tax w/ $25 coupon and 10% CB from BOFA (Add it up). Installation was a breeze. Got everything working via Wi-Fi on Win7.
You can setup WPA on the MX870 from the keypad/screen, you can't on the MX860 (Instead, you plug it into your network, hit up the IP address it picks up, and then enter the wifi user/pass from there).
They're both pretty much the same otherwise (same parts, although the 870 is supposedly a little faster), and they both have built in SMB/FTP file servers for the media ports. Some people say they use a ton of ink, but it's not really that bad when you compare it to a Brother or something similar.
For $80 it's a pretty damn good deal.

Can you refill cartridges? How difficult (need chip resetter?)?

Instead of messing with refills, I'd recommend setting up a topic alert for the 5 set of cartridges from M3ritline. They periodically offer the chipped set on sale for $10 shipped for a set of 5 (one of each). But even at full price ($22ish), it's a great price and gets great reviews from folks who bought it there. I think a retail replacement 5-pack runs upwards of $60.

Finally connected wirelessly. But first i had to connect to PC via USB and update the wlan settings .. Then disconnected the USB and my pc recognizes the printer. However my laptop connected wirelessly needs to use this printer.. how do i do that ? I can see a "unknown" device with a IP assigned connected to my gateway ..

Picked one up today in Atlanta. Fairly easy to hook up and works great (wireless too). Staples manager had to come in to authorize the $25 off coupon, but it worked in the end. Thanks OP.
Found 6 NIB (no display) in the local store (Tinley Park, IL) and bought 1 with a $20off$50 e-junkie coupon. CSR had to key in 16-digit code, UPC would not scan. Found other clearance stuff as well so a $25 off $100 could have helped save a little bit.
The Orland Park, IL store only had a display/open box MX860 and they wouldn't lower the price. I was hoping they would lower it close to $50 thus the $20off$50 coupon.
i bought one on eBay for $2.49 $2.49 - Is this printable coupon? I can't find it on eBay. Thanks.
search Staples and coupon, and you'll see in store printable ones. actually, the first two that come up are for in store coupons, so not sure why you're having trouble.

I'm not sure what link you are talking about because I never posted a link here. Anywhoo, the direct link that I referred to is here. That's also where the poster after my 1st post got theirs for $30/10 pack (the $10/5 pack price is a special/sale that they offer periodically... and very briefly, hence the suggestion about the topic alert). To set up a topic alert, there is a link on the upper left hand side of almost any forum page called "Topic Alerts." Click that and follow the instructions to set up and customize email notifications anytime a new post created for whatever key word(s) you specify. If you are so inclined, you could also just check M3ritline daily yourself. Hope that covers what you were asking.
Several Amazon reviews say this printer 'guzzles' ink (and other problems). Can anyone comment on this? Is it really much different than any other recent Canon ink jet printer?
