Alamo Car Rental - $50 off a weekly rental! (expires 9/20/10)
I got this from http://www.carrentalsavers.com/alamo.html and used it to book an amazing rate for a week in Boston that beat Hotwire and Priceline by a long shot.

Alamo Coupon, $50 off weekly! For $50 off weekly - use Alamo coupon code AD2349FDJ.
Requires 5 day rental, use for rental pickup by 9/20/10. Valid on most car classes. No Saturday night keep required. No printout required.

Pulled From Dan78 Thanks

Surely green for posting...
However, clicking on http://www.carrentalsavers.com/alamo.html turned into a start of seemingly complex navigation. I don't mind - but I'm not confident that "the end" justifies "the means". Not just you, OP - I see others in other threads doing EXACTLY THE SAME STRANGE THING - post the amount "saved" (like $50 in this case) and NOT INDICATE the most important number: HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY????

I tried some Alamo locations that quoted over $400/week - where other chains quote $200, trumping this $50 "discount". So unless someone kindly DIRECT-LINKs me to great rate - I'm giving up LOL

The site looks like it just scrapes from Travelocity.

Are you special? He posted a coupon for $50. I'm not sure how much he paid is relevant. When you use a coupon you get $50 off the price period. Unless you are booking the exact same trip as the OP at exactly the same time, how much he paid does not matter. Car rental companies generally post 4 types of deals, rate offers (where posting a rate is relevant), a dollar amount off, a percentage off or a free add on (e.g. upgrade). How much he paid is completely irrelevant with a coupon offer. e.g. Here is a $10 off coupon at Target - how much did you pay? eh! He saved $50 because HE USED A COUPON FOR $50.

In addition, using the link is simple. Just enter your times, date and location on the right hand side of the page and hit search. Pretty much like any other car rental booking engine. If other companies are cheaper find coupons for them - duh.

Good deal OP - best Alamo coupon I have seen in years.

awesome.
Thanks OP Ill be needing a rental for my hawaii trip in sept.
thank you thank you

I think he paid roughly $50 less than the regular price. What he paid really does not matter, car renal prices are all over the board depending on where you go. At any given location, one company may be cheaper than the other, but higher at a different location. So if this $50 makes Alamo the cheapest, then you found your rental company.

Just booked a week in KOA (Big Island) for $124 (all in). Not too bad.

Thanks OP. Just booked a Midsize for 5 d in orlando for 45+36 tax with the prepay option!!

Firstly, I'm re-iterating my praise for OP - as always.

Now to my point: thank you for couple of informative comments above...I think.
And the answer is yes (although no need to call me "special"): my aim is to find lowest (weekly) car rental out-of-pocket in the NorthEast corridor. See, one can get a ride to out-of-state rental place for as low as $10 (out of NYC): there are bus-wars, ride-for-gas offers, etc. Thus, an offer I'm searching is the lowest OUT-OF-POCKET weekly total on any car, sometimes on Cargo Van. A FatWalleter would be crazy to pay $350 weekly total in NY area - while rate+tax is $75 lower in NJ, $150 lower in PA, $200 lower in DE!
"amazing rate for a week in Boston" for me would be $145 including tax, as there are $10-15 rides available between NYC and Boston. That rate would match the available rate out of DE, which is in fact closer (by mileage) to NYC - but no Chinatown buses stop there (unless someone corrects me), and I'm not sure about Bolt Bus or similar?

Booked 10 days in Hawaii (compact) for 163 after all fees without this coupon on Alamo through Costco a week ago. For those interested, it seems to almost match the price this deal nets with the $50 coupon (actually a few cents less).

Awesome... thank you.

Worked like a charm. Thanks OP!
