$5 Ink Recycle when you buy $59 worth Of HP Ink at Staples 9/5 - 10/2 Just got my rewards check and it came with a flyer for this promotion starting on 9/5. It looks like the same terms as last time. "Earn $5 back in Staples Rewards when you spend $59 on HP ink in the same day. Minimum purchase requirement does not include tax or shipping. Laser Toner recycling is not valid for extra rewards. " blah, blah, blah. Up to 20 carts again for Premier members.
Below is the comparison of just recycling 20 cartridges per month during August, September and October 2010 (you must do it 10/1 or 10/2/10 vs. participating in the aforementioned promotion. In this scenario(RIPPED FROM SD), the maximum saving is reached by spending $350 mid-November or Black Friday. This is good for a big ticket item purchase. Otherwise, you'll be better of using each $100 + $6 checks together with a $25 coupon separately.
Scenario #1: recycle 20 cartridges/month without the promotion $350 - $30 coupon - $120 rewards checks = $200 subtotal + tax = $219.50 OOP= $219.50 Cost of ink to recycle = $18 TOTAL = $237.50
Scenario #2: recycle 20 cartridges/month with the promotion $350 - $30 coupon - $318 rewards checks = $2 subtotal + tax = $2.20 OOP=$2.20 Cost of ink = $18 Cost of HP ink=$197.55 ($180+tax) TOTAL = $217.75 Sell HP ink = -$90 (or more)* GRAND TOTAL = $127.75
* This assumes that you can sell the HP ink at 50% of Staples' price. If you used coupons and bought more expensive ink while still keeping the subtotal over $60, you can get more...

BernUnit said: I'm new to the ink recycling thingy - -- - - does this mean any HP-Compatible cartridge, or just genuine HP cartridges are recyclable?ANY ink cartridge is recyclable.
For example, you can recycle generic Canon cartridges for this deal, but you must buy new HP ink.
