Startpage is powered by Ixquick. The only search engine that does not record your IP address. Your privacy is under attack !
Every time you use a regular search engine, your search data are recorded. Your search terms, the time of your visit, the links you choose, your IP address and your User ID cookies all get stored in a database.
The identity profiles that can be constructed from this cloud of information represent modern day gold for marketers. But government officials, hackers and even criminals also have an interest in getting their hands on your personal search data. And sooner or later they will...
What could happen ?
Consider the following story:
In August 2006, the online world was jarred by the AOL privacy scandal: AOL released three months' worth of aggregated search data from 650,000 of its users, publishing all the details in an online database. This database is still searchable. It is an absolute eye-opener to see the potential for privacy nightmares.
Google rocks! gmail, g voice, g docs, chrome.. all of them top tier products!!

Even stranger is that Yahoo is covering a story about a new Google Feature. Hmmm.....
good news folks, if you have google voice, and this New program, you can have google voice forward the call to this program and you can pick it up with google email phone.

Thanks but don't see the phone app on my gmail yet - did all the upgrading and stuff. Guess they're rolling it out in next few days.

not on mine either, do you HAVE to have contacts in chat app and only able to call those in your chat list?
I just paid for another year with magicjerk, they changed their setup so this will be thelast year I'm with them. They now require the obtrusive dongle be plugged in after the upgrade few days ago. Hope google keeps this and it stays free or cheap. SOOOOO long Dan Borislow & Magicjack, you had your chance to offer a dongleless solution and you missed the boat, so I'm jumping ship.

Dude why you want to mess around so much with Linux when things works easily on Windows. Yes I agree windows is slow and buggy and viruses etc etc.....but still easy to manage then Linux. Also windows has a far bigger and better environment then Apple and Linux when it comes to PC.

It's free? And you can make it look exactly like Windows?

Chat has been around, but not the ability to directly call phones from it while on your email page. That is new as of today. No call icon available on mine yet either. From what I read, it is being rolled out to users over the next few days.
The international rates are even better than Ooma's (for Philippines, anyway). I still don't see a call button either. Engadget says the voice quality is excellent. Can't wait to try it.
You’ll be ready to get started once “Call Phones” shows up in your chat list (you will need to install the voice and video plug-in if you haven’t already).
I do not see Call (or a chat list) so much for their instructions..... in my gmail
To upgrade:
1. In Gmail, click the Call phone link in the Chat list. 2. From the Call window, click your current account balance and select History or Add credit. 3. Once in Google Voice, click the Upgrade your account button. 4. Complete the upgrade steps including picking your new Google number.

patience, it's being done in waves. Will take a few days for all gmail accounts to see this new icon-to use service.

Sounds like you're thinking of Google voice. That's what I thought so first too, but it's in addition to that, since you always needed some phone around to use Google voice.
Mind control at work? (Or perhaps a healthy sense of humor?) Amazing though, how often this rote response comes up whenever someone bothers to connect the dots. Perhaps an Alcoa plot? or Kaiser?

I just tried it. You don't use a headset like Skype. It calls your mobile phone. When you pick up, google connects you to the number you were trying to dial. I was really excited about making free domestic calls on my computer, but its not compatible with T-Mobile prepaid plan. Also the number portability doesn't work at all. When I dial my google number, it doesn't ring my mobile or my house number.
Pretty disappointed given how much hype this had. At least it'll make cheap international calls for the time being.

You are using the "Call" button from your google voice screen. The "new" call button will appear in your gmail screen (i.e. the screen where you check your email. On the left side there is a chat section and that's where it is supposed to appear (I guess in a day or two for most gmail users).
lol i used 2500 minutes on my familytalk 550 plan last month. 200 rollover minutes - the rest were nights and weekend and 80% mobile2mobile. plus about 80 hours of facetime/yahoo/tango (wifi/3g).
what's up with the lack of video chat program for iphone on google?
