Just came back from Nor-Cal Fry's stores.
They have these 2 LED HDTV 40in 120Hz on sale:
- Sony KDL40EX700 for $600 (Sony)
- Samsung UN40C6300 for $750 (Samsung)
Their spec seem similar, not sure about contrast ratio.
Is Samsung really worth the $150 extra?

They also have Samsung 60Hz LED UN40C500 (60Hz) for $600 (Samsung 60Hz LED)

The Sony unit seem low in stock, Samsung units seem plenty.
Looks like these LED units are going down in price.
I'm sure more bargin is coming out.
Good luck!

thanks in 4 2 Sony at this price

Confirmed, same price in socal locations but selling out VERY fast.

how in the world
or when in the world
did Sony price less than a samsung
haah

OMG, a 40" LED must be huge!!! Pretty expensive for a light bulb though

I'll confirm that the San Marcos Fry's has 'em. I just picked one up. They were a little shocked at the price. They don't have them on display, so you have to ask for them.

Thanks for the tip, this looks like a great TV!

GREAT find OP!!! I'm just looking for something a little bigger (due to room size) and will keep coming back to FW until I find it. Congrats to those who got in at this price.

Talked to fry's in So Cal (Anaheim and Fountain Valley) and one in Nor Cal(Roseville) and can confirm they are OOS however Anaheim (in store only) and Roseville (gave it over the phone) allowed for raincheck on the price. All fry's said that this is a NON-SALE price and simply its new price and were hesistant to give a rain check but if you talk to a manager they will probably give it to you. GL fellow FWers

Damn... I talked to 2 different managers at the Anaheim store and could not get a raincheck. Was also told by 2 stores that it is a 1 day only promotion.

I went in and talked to the A/V supervisor Minh Kim and he gave it to me in seconds, guess its very YMMV. Although I talked to some girl at first and she said its not a sale so no go, just say you drove real far and someone on the phone told you to come in.

8 Sonys left in Tempe, AZ as of 6pm Sunday night. It wasn't on the floor (the KDL40EX500 was, and at the same $600 price), I had to ask about it. Associate acted very surprised when he saw the price. Said the price was good until 9pm Monday night.

your lucky day..

The Internet features on that Sony are great!

Nice deal, thanks.

Damn! I just paid $750 for the Sony at Dell 4 weeks ago
It's a damn fine TV. The internet features are awesome plus DLNA.

Only available B&M? Online the price is $1069.50. Really wanted it as I missed the Dell deal by a day.

wonderful new!

thanks for the info. i bought this tv today at my local frys. i checked online and it said they have them in stock. i went to the store, the guy in the tv department told me it's out of stock and gave me raincheck. but i saw the screen he was checking. it shows that they have 2 in stock(looks like the guy wanna keep it for himself and wouldnt sell it to me). anyway, i walked to the cashier counter on the other side, i asked the guy to check stock for me, i told him i called earlier and i have raincheck for pick up in store. the cashier looks surprised at the price and trying to run around the store(i guess they dont wanna sell it). Then i told them someone called and hold for me, so he has to give it to me for that price. anyway, thanks for the info, im so glad to pick one up today.

I couldn't get one from Duluth, GA Fry's on Labor day. The store at Milton, GA sold the 3 units they had on stock that morning! (It looks like 1 person bought all the 3) So, I got a raincheck from the store at Duluth, GA. On Saturday (9/11), the model showed as "available" at the Duluth, GA store. So, I went to the store at 9:00 AM. The sales rep recognized me and located the in stock item for me. He confirmed me that it wasn't a returned/refurbished/display item. I inspected the package and the TV closely. I didn't see any sign of use. So far, I'm happy with the purchase - the price I paid and the quality of the TV. For the benefit of those who still want to buy one, this item still shows up as "available" in a few stores in AZ, Southern & northern Cali. If you are lucky, you still can get the price.

i'm not sure how fry's works, but is it worth calling the store? i checked online and it says the Samsung model AND the Sony are available at a norcal store about an hour away.

prices online def don't reflect the orginal post though - did yall have success just quoting the $600/$750 prices?
