you know, i sold a puppy to someone who took it to one of these vets , puppy was 15 weeks old, he left if for shots and a check up, when he got back , the vet told him it pooped out heartworm's while he was there and needed treatment , he called me while he was there, i told him to get the pup out of there and gave him the number to a real , honest vet . Some people might want to check out this link before you take a loved pet to them

Drive to the nearest small town vet. I wouldn't be surprised many services will be cheaper. My example - Vet I have been taking my pup to for 5 years. His "big brass balls" estimate was $444.00 to $544.00. I got it done in the small town next door to the metro area for $160.00! Brass balls is no longer my vet.

This was for teeth cleaning.

Last time I needed heartworm preventative banfield had a similar local coupon. The only preventative they carried is there own store brand and it was 50+% higher than national brands. My dog just had a test 9 month prior so it didn't need another one just yet.

We just dumped Banfield (had the "Optimum Wellness Plan" for 2 of our pets) after they misdiagnosed a second illness with one of our pets. We got tired of their constant upselling. high doctor turnover (5 vets in the last 3 years) and inability to make an appointment (they do a LOT of "drop-off" work).

Yup, same experience here at the Secaucus, NJ store. They didn't accept the shots that the breeder gave my puppy and said I needed them before they would spay my dog. Before even getting those shots, I was scheduled for the operation w/o even telling them I would agree to it.

They have many inexperienced vets that probably start out there and move on. They should focus on the service instead of upselling everything to make money. People will spend if the service is good.

Their prices was inline with other well known animal hospital around here so there was no reason to go to them over Rutherford Animal Hospital for the same price over some place with more experience. Over the phone they quoted a lesser price but when I got there they had these other fees. I mean if I was to spay a dog, give me the "out the door" price...

^^ im goin to the woodbridge one just for this general checkup..might as well since its free and might do the heartworm test for the heck of it....7 month old toy fox terrier and 7 year old pitbull

I'm not sure if they're in your are, but this company has decent prices. I've used them at Pet Supermarket but I think they're at Petco too. http://pawsplus.com
