Thank you to everyone who posted the instructions. I just got 1 Gb. more space

Sweet, I read the contest is open for two weeks, so plenty of time for everyone to get their 1GB bonus space; even without using the walkthrough

love the quest, wish i had time to do it on my own. Thanks for the hints!

Yes, but it would be wrong to do so.

#5 can be faked in Virtual Machinees, if you're careful (blow away the VM between "signups" and change the MAC in properties of the NIC).

This was awesome! Thanks Billy

This was fun , thanks guys

Thanks for those links! An extra 512MB for me that I missed before on top of the 1GB through DropQuest!

Super Green for you - I use this on a daily basis, and I'm too cheap to sign up for the paid service.

I do tell all of my friends and students about this, though.

TheWankeler, if you have an .edu email address, you can get double space for each of your referrals. Go to www.dropbox.com/edu and put in your email address. It is also retroactive for all previous referrals.

Green to the OP and those who helped me get my Gig...

Wow. Thank you. If you solved all that and then shared it, you are a new deity in my pantheon. Those questions were so hard, I still don't get most of them even with the answers. (How was an all-yellow .png file supposed to serve as a clue? And what was the deal with that circle of numbers and the reference to 'wings'?)

Even if you didn't solve it yourself, kudos, praise, and piles of gratitude for providing the info in so clear, complete, and accessible a manner.

Thank you! Should I ever get the opportunity, I will follow your fine example and share what I can with the FatWallet community.

Ditto.

Can you share how? Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the answers guys! Got my 1GB

Thanks OP and everyone! I'm 1GB richer!

Why not use SugarSync instead of Dropbox? SugarSync starts you out with 5gig to start?

I'll take a look at it. I've been looking for another cheap service to automatically back up my photo archive. This might just do the trick! I love Dropbox, so if it's anywhere near that good then it should be suitable for my needs.

I was using Windows Live Sync, but just switched to SugarSync a few weeks ago, so far it works great.

Thanks OP. Thanks hard working FWers who figured all this stuff out.

I have both And I have my Dropbox folder shared through SugarSync so I can access my files through my phone.

I started with Dropbox a couple years ago because SugarSync didn't offer revision history and Linux support, but when they came out with a Symbian app I wanted it for my Nokia 5800 (there is a Symbian Dropbox app but it only allows single file uploads). But I had already setup a bunch of scripts for Dropbox (automatically loading torrents from a Dropbox folder, etc) so it hasn't been worth the hassle to switch completely yet. I'll probably fix things when I finally upgrade my ancient file server (1ghz Athlon on a Abit KT-7 raid).

I've tried Sugarsync and I don't think it compares to the quality of Dropbox. Sugarsync may initially offer a little bit more space but Dropbox has awesome ways like this to earn more space. Aside from just the GBs, there are many other factors that go into a good backup/syncing service and Dropbox is top notch.

not sure how you guys figured out some of those clues but very impressed and very grateful for it. thanks op and all those that contributed clues. anybody care to try to explain how they figured all of them out? i especially don't get the clues with the yellow-green and blue pictures. how on earth were those coherent clues?

thanks

I have not verified it, but I think they refer to the alpha-numeric values of the colors. In any event, I have absolutely no idea what some of the other puzzles are about. Good thing Dropbox does not quiz you in person.

You had to find the hex code for the color. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors

I got to step 15 or so and now none of the links work.

It looks like this ends tonight at 12AM PST so only a few more hours! Get it done soon so you can get your 1GB free space!

Here's a followup article on the Dropquest. Pretty cool stuff http://blog.dropbox.com/?p=659

Pretty harsh comments on the article.

Thanks OP! I started it a while ago so I guess it still let me finish even though it's now closed. The walk through helped so much!
