Geez, H&R Block is certainly being aggressive this year. I wonder how much of a dent they will put in TurboTax's business.

Can anyone comment on TigerDirect and rebates? I guess the rebate is from CA but I still wonder if TD is legit.

I have never had any problems with TD rebates. Done many over the years.

Thanks OP. I paid using eBillme and they gave me $5.64 Cash Back (10%). In addition, FW CB was 3%. So after tax (n GA) and shipping, this makes $20.77 for me! Just enough for $16 or so upgrade to Home Premium that I need.

Looks like no State on the Tax Software???

jpedo said:   Looks like no State on the Tax Software???
How did you come to that conclusion? If the software is downloadable, then no State. If it is packaged one, like shown here: http://www.hrblock.com/tax-software/index.html, then it should contain it. it really depends how they provide it...

edit: my mistake. as indicated below, the downloadable can contain state just like the packaged versions since it installs into the computer.

snor said:   How did you come to that conclusion? If the software is downloadable, then no State. How did you come to that conclusion? The $0.01 / $1.04 CA.com deals were download only and included State.

They say "a $44.99 value". The $44.99 version of H&R At Home Deluxe in B&M stores has state included. Not a guarantee of course...

Can anyone see the rebate form? I got an error trying to open the link.

Got one. Thanks OP.

The reason is that when they took over TaxCut - the product has become harder and harder to use, and they push the use of H&R Block help to facilitate - while TurboTax still trys to make taxes easy. TaxCut use to be the bomb - years ahead of TurboTax - and now - TaxCut (H&R Block) is like this dry novel that does nothing except ask basic questions. They dont try to really help, they want you to go to H&R Block.

I can't imagine actually going to H&R Block. I had an office manager at my previous job that worked at H&R Block during tax season. She couldn't handle ordering pens, and I used to mail my own packages when the materials were important since we had zero confidence in her ability to take care of a UPS label.

Many people can file their federal returns online for free. The link is here:

http://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/wizard.jsp?ck

I then do my state return online for free as well through my state's site.

Beware of going to H & R Block. I worked there for two years; if you didn't sell enough "insurance," you were reprimanded. Those Refund Anticipation Loans - their APY average is about 120%. Wait two weeks for an electronic payment to your bank account.

Do they ship the H&R Block software? Trying to see where I can download it.

Thanks

Also shipping is showing up as $7.00 for me. Kinda steep for Ground no?

Just got mine. They don't ship H&R Block software. It's just a tiny package with the card and info to get the 10GB online storage.

Who took over TaxCut? I have been using TaxCut since the year it came out and it used to be FREE for the first 2 - 3 years (AR ofcourse) and it has always been a H&R Block Product. They just dropped the TaxCut name (and added the At Home part) but nobody took over nothing with TaxCut (or H&R Block AtHome).

Kiplinger's TaxCut > H&R Block TaxCut > H&R Block At Home

Edit: I feel really stupid. The only thing I got was a CA Online backup package, which has a card with URL and activation code in it. I have no idea where to download H&R At Home tax software Edit again: this is how it works. Shortly after I register and sign up for my online backup, CA sent me an email for H&R Block At Home and federal e-file code (state has to be printed and mailed, it seems). After I unblocked content in my email, there was a "Download Now" link to get my tax software. Sweet!

I concur. After years of using TurboTax, I bought TaxCut last year because of the TurboTax fee structure fiasco. Bad move. Many of the fields that I needed help with simply gave cryptic responses. My taxes have gotten more complicated during the years and I didn't feel confident that I did everything right last year.

They didn't ship H&R Block with mine either. Not sure I want to open this without knowing whether or not the tax software is included via download.

After installation and activation I got email to download tax software. It says 1 state is included.

But never got auto-renewal offer. When I click on upgrade account, it shows my license in a URL but no ARS offer.
Has any one faced similar issue?

thanks

I had the same issue. Looks like no auto renewal service or additional $20 rebate for me. Oh well. I am content getting H&R deluxe + 5 federal efile + 1 state paper file for free. Shop discover mitigated the shipping.

Update OP with new rebate and new far software

Package arrived yesterday.

After I installed and activated the CA Online Backup I got an e-mail that I used to download the tax software.

Earned $2.00 Cash Back from Mr. Rebates and another $1.00 from the Schwab Visa card.

I will mail in the rebate request this week for the other $50.

================================================
When I spoke with Tiger Direct I signed up for two promotions:

1. The gold rewards cost $1 for a 30 day intro with two $20 certificates to be mailed to me
2. The warranty program (forgot the name) cost $1 for a 30 day intro with one $20 certificate to be mailed to me

Looks like I could come out $60 ahead on this deal if I cancel in time
======================================================================

No sign of the auto renewal offer but there was a phone number for the installation.

Has anyone called this number to ask about auto renewal over the phone?

thanks op!

Curious ... how much is the renewal price to keep the online backup after the first year?

$5 off using google checkout to make a little money on this deal.

Post deleted, I misunderstood the OP's question.

flowindex said:   $5 off using google checkout to make a little money on this deal.but the cheapest shipping method (EconoShip) is not available via Google checkout.

FREE H&R Block Deluxe with ANY purchase from TigerDirect
You'll receive the download link and efile code after the activation of the AV software
Remember to cancel auto renewal of CA AV software

The online backup subscription is 1 year ... so i assume the fees start after 1 year

H&R Block is not even offering Refund Anticciption Loans this year - need to get your facts straight.
