Grab this one - I can't imagine it will be free for long. I've had it since it came out in paper copy, and now I have a copy on my phone (yay!) It's a great reference work on grammar and not a bad read, either.
Amazon.com Review For those who value correct grammar, Anne Stilman has written the definitive guide. She holds you to her high grammatical standards, and clearly explains how to follow the rules. There are chapters on "Spelling," "Punctuation," "Grammar," and "Style," and Stilman patiently elucidates the rules of colons, brackets, and plural formations, while gracefully tackling the common misuses of "lie" versus "lay." Her illustrative examples bring the stickiest lessons home. Quoting from Woody Allen, Vikram Seth, Mark Twain, and other likable authors, issues of pronoun choice, parallelism, and ellipses come clear. Although Stilman cuts no slack on errors, she concedes that grammar evolves. While she suggests that you avoid splitting infinitives, she also believes you shouldn't introduce excessive awkwardness merely to conform to a rule that was dogmatically decreed years ago for no particular reasons of clarity or merit.

True happiness, lasting happiness is within everyone's grasp through a process known as Self-Actualisation, a natural state within the reach of everyone. That is an illusion created by our global consumer society.
Hunting Bin Laden [Kindle Edition] Rob Schultheis (Author)
$24.95 list price 4.25/5 stars on 7 reviews (5x5; 1x4; 1x1) -- but the single 1-star review is pretty biting. Probably a book that has been superseded by events; published three years ago, before Bin Laden's capture. Still, it will give you insight into the war on terror. Link
Product Description "I first met al-Qaeda before there was an al-Qaeda, way back in the winter of 1984. It was an encounter that came within a split second of costing me my life."So begins Rob Schultheis's gripping account of his journey into the heart of one of the world's most dangerous places, on the trail of the world's most wanted man. A veteran war correspondent (he was one of a handful of Western journalists who covered the Russian war in Afghanistan from inside the country), Schultheis offers a first-hand look at how the seeds of al-Qaeda were planted by foreign jihadists in the 1980s, before most Americans knew what the word "jihad" meant. He then offers a radical assessment of why bin Laden remains at large, detailing the complicit role Pakistan has played in both offering him sanctuary and in helping al-Qaeda establish an almost impregnable stronghold in the Middle East. Finally, fresh from a recent visit to Afghanistan and armed with analysis of current satellite imagery, Schultheis makes his case for where exactly Osama bin Laden is hiding—and why the U.S. government is not acting on this information.

A Hope Undaunted (Winds of Change) [Kindle Edition] by Julie Lessman Link Was $14.99
Inspirational romance author Lessman (Daughters of Boston series) opens a new historical fiction series, Winds of Change. In this first book, Lessman's female protagonist, Katie O'Connor, is a smart, sassy young woman full of dreams for a successful career in law. Barriers to Katie's goals are the time period in which she was born (the 1920s) and societal mores that locate women securely in the home. Katie's headstrong nature often does her more harm than good, and her heart pulls her away from a wealthy suitor to childhood acquaintance Luke McGee. With lots of family dynamics and competing story lines, Katie's journey to true fulfillment in both love and faith loses impact. Lessman's writing skill is noteworthy, but the tale would have been more successful if it was more succinct.
The Preacher's Bride [Kindle Edition] by Jody Hedlund Link Was $14.99
Hedlund's debut novel is no light-hearted romp through history. Instead, this double finalist in the 2009 ACFW Genesis Contest for unpublished writers takes on 1650s England during the final days of Cromwell's reign. The Puritans had enjoyed years of freedom, but as Royalists begin to regain power, preachers like John Costin face danger. Costin's wife dies, leaving four children behind, one of them blind and another, newborn. Elizabeth Whitbread, who sees children in need, volunteers to become Costin's housekeeper. She comes to love the children and, eventually, John, yet she is bound by strict Puritan standards and her promise to marry another. Elizabeth faces the threats of a Royalist, the rebukes of powerful Puritans, and the turmoil of her feelings as political events threaten all she holds dear. Hedlund, who based her tale on the life of John Bunyan, writes well of life in Puritan England, though the middle drags and readers will become annoyed with the stubbornness of Costin. Yet this is a fine beginning for a writer we'll hear from again.
