6/16 Update: It's $30 more now. Total $687 after coupon.
This deal is similiar to this one 40 days ago. It's $30 cheaper now, but with 2GB less memory. Hard drive is 320GB, other than 250GB, though. To save time, I just copy/paste the text of SingleRainAM and made a little modification.
Lenovo offers its Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Intel Core i5 2.3GHz 12.5" LED-Backlit Widescreen Notebook, model no. 4286CTO, for $657.13 with free shipping. Features include an Intel Core i5-2410M 2.3GHz dual-core "Sandy Bridge" processor, 12.5" 1366x768 LED-backlit LCD, 2GB RAM, 320GB 5400 rpm hard drive, 802.11n wireless, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
To get this deal: 1. Click Text to start 2. Sign in first, or create an account and login 3. Customize ThinkPad X220 laptop (for $772.65): Select "Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64" [subtract $42.50] 4. Add to cart and use 10% off Lenovo Coupons USX10XT420S0613 5. Final price: $730.15 - 10% off coupon = $657.13 + Tax.

For $36 you can get a high quality 4GB memory from Newegg to upgrade it to 6GB. Very simple.

Because RAMs are cheap. You can easily find 4GB laptop memory for less than $40, sometimes less than $30 with coupon. All you need to do is to remove 2 screws on a Thinkpad.

I found a Fujitsu that is very similiar to this laptop for only $479 at Frys. What is the track record of this brand? Anyone with some experience?
Intel Core i5-460M 2.53GHz Processor with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.8GHz 15.6" screen 3MB L3 Cache, 1066MHz FSB 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM (2GB x 2) 500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

That one from Fry's is not a sandy bridge processor which will make a big difference. Lenovo bought the IBM laptop division and is generally considered a good brand to buy (sometimes model specific). I rate them as better than Dell and HP and less than Toshiba personally.

You are comparing a top-rated, ultraportable laptop weighing 3+ lbs, a 7+ hours battery life, and several MilSpec drop ratings to a run-of-the-mill Fujitsu 15.6" machine that probably wieghs in excess of 5 lbs. Its Apples and Oranges.

WTF? That's a 15.6" laptop with a TN panel, inferior CPU and graphics... The primary reason to get the X220 is for the IPS screen and then for the enormous battery life potential(over 20 hours with the slice).

I would've been all over this instead of my 5.7 Lb. IdeaPad Z560 i5 (non-Sandy) I got for $650+ not long ago. I love it, but this X220 is such a sweet little machine IMO.

Lenovo isnt participating as far as I know. Too bad as I ordered one myself with enough extras to be over $699.
As for this deal...do yourself a favor and spend the extra $50 for the premium screen if absolutely nothing else! It is VERY well worth it.

Yep, those pictures are genuine from last month in Hawaii. Wearing depends hasn't slowed her down a bit. I will check to see if I have some where she isn't in a bikini and post those.

Maybe this is a silly question, but does this have HDMI?
aomniode said: Maybe this is a silly question, but does this have HDMI?
no. display port is the new thing, so expect to see less and less hdmi and more and more display port equipped laptops. The x220 comes with VGA and display port. Plus side is you can get hdmi -> displayport adapters if I remember right.

The link says "Welcome Students, Faculty and Staff". Is everyone eligible for this deal, or is this a backdoor into a deal that will be invalidated if used by the general public.

I went through mastercard marketplace when ordering mine, before even seeing this thread. Also checked the military discount page as well. Both have the same prices, so I would imagine that ALL corporate perks/employee pricing pages with them (such as the Barnes and Noble links you also see on here in past deals) will do just as well.

For those of you on the fence, do not get the standard LCD--get the upgraded "premium panel" (IPS). I bought one of these a month ago and the regular panel has very poor viewing angles and the colors are very washed out.

Should be a little earlier than Jun 30 based on my previous experience. My X220 was produced in China and shipped to my home directly from Hongkong about 10 days after the ordering.

I went through the site as indicated above and I am not able to get the same deal. the "Final price: $730.15" only happened after the coupon code: 72HOUR.
It did showing $730.15 before you add it to the shopping cart, however once you added to the shopping cart, then it becomes $764.15. In addition, the two coupon codes doesn't stackable. If someone knows the way, please help.

Etch said: As for this deal...do yourself a favor and spend the extra $50 for the premium screen if absolutely nothing else! It is VERY well worth it.I can't believe we've been living with crappy laptop displays for a mere $50. I would have gladly payed $150 for a better display on my Acer 3820TG.
I'm not even much of an IPS fan due to their price premium. The TN displays on sub-$1k Laptops are just horrible, and not even close to desktop TN, let alone IPS.
Now I just need to find a 13" laptop with both a good display and decent discrete graphics...
