I ran into a similar situation with a different rebate (Linky). I have yet to decide what to do with that. Was your rebate also with Parago?

I know the rebate says purchase between 05/04/12 - 05/10/12 but Newegg usually shows "$0.00 after mail-in rebate card" with a link to the rebate on the product page. I don't see it here.No way of telling on the Newegg site, although you could look for the rebate in their rebate center, and the price is still $33 which is a good sign. I would suggest calling the rebate center (or do an online chat) and ask them what the valid dates are on the offer.
I asked Newegg on Livechat and CSR said it ended in advance. Oh well, better not to risk it.

The CSR at Newegg is probably just looking at the page and not seeing it and telling you that it ended early. If you look at their Software - Security page with the Mail-in Rebate selection, it still shows up there. The rebate indicator always seems to pop up a few seconds after the rest of the product page. Maybe they have some sort of system problem.

Something similar happened to me. I had a problem with Perago rebates where they claimed no UPC received. What a bunch of lies. I always staple the rebate form, receipt, copy of competitor’s disc for the upgrade and the UPC. I asked if I could resubmit the rebate and was told, "Without the original UPC we cannot validate your rebate". What a bunch of crooks.
Why highly YMMV, just the nature of stacking these rebates? Or have people tried Avanquest competitive upgrade rebates (stacked with a regular rebate) in the past and gotten somewhat random approvals and denials?
My only experience in stacking the upgrade over an FAR is with Kaspersky and I'm confident enough in it based on my experience combined with other reports here and the other site that I wouldn't really consider it YMMV. Hoping to give this one a shot as well...

Hoping to give this one a shot as well...Avanquest often "loses" my rebates or forgets to send me checks. I decided I'd risk it again as their customer support has been pretty responsive on resubmissions/requests. The last few rebates I did with Nova/Avanquest (same company) took about 15 weeks to arrive after mailing (and an email at the 12-week mark).
For the Avanquest rebates, one requires the original UPC and the upgrade rebate requires the entire boxtop. Is the UPC code located on the top of the box? If so, then it's not possible to meet both rebate requirements. That's my only concern with it.

I'm pretty good with rebates, I believe. Over 1200 in the last 4-5 years, two failures (Parago lies and sucks). BUT - I will NEVER touch another Nova or Avanquest rebate, ever! They lie, cheat, ignore, lie again, lose stuff and are easily the WORST rebates I have ever encountered. What a BAD EXPERIENCE they are! I got all of mine, but some took 5 months, and several phone calls to succeed, as well as a Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaint. Like I said, I got mine fulfilled, but I'll never do any more which involve Nova or Avanquest. I would not encourage ANYONE to get involved with their rebates, regardless of how lucky you've been with them in the past. Just sayin'. That's my $ .02 worth.
You are absolutely correct with those companies. I have never received anything from any of them. Another bad one is Swann cameras at Frys. Say bye-bye to your money with those cons!
I know it would defeat the FAR if you paid extra for postage, but does sending stuff in 'return receipt requested' ever help in situations where they say "we didn't get that" ? Then you can say, we'll sure you did and so-and-so signed for it on *this* date.
That would make your FAR products cost a few bucks, I realize that. Just curious.

halitosis3 said: Any of those companies that make you pre-register your rebate are full of it as well. It's like you are preparing them to rip you off.Actually, it's much better to pre-register because there is less chance of them mangling your name and address when they enter the form. And it makes it easier to track them online since you have the link.

Nova used to have a really bad (and well deserved) reputation but they had cleaned up their act. I also had to go after them for my last rebate, although they did pay it fairly quickly after I contacted them.
Kaspersky Pure is $9.99 AR. There's not a coupon code to make it FAR, is there? There has been in the past in similar situations.Back FAR, but no freebies for your freebies
Double dip MM on Kaspersky is over. The upgrade rebate for the Kaspersky Anti Virus (offer # 42295) now asks for the original UPC instead of the photocopy. Plus, they have "fixed" their web site so that you have to know the offer number in order to pre-register for the rebate. They no longer show the list of all Kaspersky rebates, which used to make it easy to find the "extra" rebates. This is the same thing that Computer Associates did a few years ago when we were double & triple dipping on rebates for many of their products.
Wow, I pre-registered the upgrade offer two days ago before they changed the system. I guess I should have sent out the rebates earlier. What will happen for people who already sent out their upgrade rebates using a copy of UPC?

If your rebate form says that a copy of the UPC is acceptable, then you should have a good argument if they deny your rebate. Make sure to keep copies of everything that you submitted.
I read the rebate form again and it already asked for the original UPC so no go.

This will also affect mm opportunities for Fry's as well. Unless, they get rid of upgrade rebates, I don't know how the standard and upgrade can both require an original upc.

If they want you to be able to file both rebates, the non-upgrade takes a photocopy. If they don't want you to file both (because one is for the full price), they have you send the original UPC.

What I was referring to, was a scenario where there's a Kaspersky product for $50 and one rebate was a $25 standard and the other was a $25 upgrade, then how can both rebates require an original upc?

If they wanted the weekly one to be the only one you could file, they would require the original for that one.

The Frys constant upgrade rebates to reach FAR on each software product are a drag. Not nearly as good as the Newegg FAR single rebate software. But sometimes there isn't any Newegg FAR software.
The heck with QuickBooks. If you apply for their rebates, you are a fool. I applied for the $80 QuickBooks rebate from Newegg. They sent me an email saying they never got my submission and to resubmit. I resubmitted following their instructions exactly. Then I got an email saying my submission was invalid because I didn't submit the original UPC. I tried to call but there is no place in the menu to get a person. So of course I can't submit the original UPC and had told them so when I answered their original email. Because I sent the original UPC when I originally submitted the rebate. So now I'm out $80 plus the time and stamp to submit the original rebate and then the time and stamp to resubmit the rebate as requested by the first email. Never again will I buy one of their products that has a rebate. I sent an email but I can see how this is going to come out.

You might want to do a BBB complaint against Parago, that worked for me in the past when I had an issue with them.

Well, I got to say Parago emailed me back and said they updated my rebate status to valid. Doubt it was the BB filing either because there hasn't been time.
