Since many senior discounts are not advertised to the public, our advice to men and women over 55 is to ALWAYS ask a sales associate if that store provides a senior discount. That way, you can be sure to get the most bang for you buck.

Thanks.Very interesting information!

It varies by store, but often Wendy's and Taco Bell offer either free or cheap drinks (50 cents or less) to seniors.

"Back in my day, we paid a nickel for everything anyone could ever buy. And we liked it."

Thanks for the great thread SinglePapa. I added it to the Official "Store Coupons & Clearance" Master Thread.

I was wondering how Kmart can offer 20% senior discount. Based on a article on about.com, it only apply to prescription drugs.

Not hot for another 40 years.

Also I think it may be unpleasant when this deal does come to apply and it becomes dead.

LOL, now I know why Taco Bell smells funny.

awesome! Thanks for this

Nice! I've forwarded a copy to the parents. Thanks for putting this together!

I'm not sure if this is a copy of my thread located here.

Green for SinglePapa . I had no idea that I qualified for discounts at several places on this list. At 56, I'mma start asking about discounts at businesses that aren't even listed here.

Thanks OP... will pass it on to those, well, that are of age.

Here is some interesting information: In the State of Illinois, when you hit 40 years of age, you are considered "elderly".

Nice to know info.

Grandpa says Thank you

Wow, I didn't know we had 10 year olds posting on FW! (ie, some discounts start @ age 50)

does it ever hurt to ask for the senior discount? My son is jr, so i am senior, and i look a little older. Never been carded

ymmv

Wendy'a and Burger King vary by franchise operation. YMMV. Our Wendy's did away with the Senior discount.
Burger King here is a discounted Senior drink for 35 cents plus tax.

Add Frazoli's - Free Senior drink with dine in meal. YMMV by franchise.

Most ski resorts give a generous discount to ppl over 65, up to 75% off. If you are over 75, you can ski for FREE at nearly 70 resorts.

Ski Free

There is an 80 year young fella at my local mountain. I see him just about every day I'm there. I hope to be him someday...

To be him, you have to kill and eat a piece of him.

RE:

20% off of what?
Nothing on their site about it.

wow, thank you very much

is there any forum for senior citizen benefits ?

"Get off my lawn!" etc and etc

Denny's did with your AARP card have
$1.00 coffee all the time for all in you party.
20% off all in your party's food, as I recall 4 to 8 pm. ??

Here is the Denny's/AARP offer

Denny’s
866-242-5235
www.aarp.org/dennys
20% discount off your total check every day from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Also, coffee is $1 each for you and your guests, 24/7

Wow, I will check one by one, see if any item need to buy.

Add Walgreens. Present your AARP card when purchasing. My last visit yielded a $5.00 off coupon valid on next purchase. BIG YMMV

The question is, do any of these merchants give a discount if you're an AARP member, but say, 0?

This is awesome!

I love using my AARP card at Walgreen's. That occasional $5.00 off coupon is great. Also, I love the fact that I can get a nice discount when shopping at walgreensdotcom. For instance, I recently ordered the Omron Blood Pressure Monitor that was on sale for $59.99.

With AARP, the online sale price was $56.99 - a $10.00 off coupon + $3.52 tax for a grand total of $50.51. I almost purchased this in the store. Glad I didn't because the in store purchase would have given me $5.00 to use on a future Walgreen's in store purchase.

With Walgreen's, please make sure you set up your online account and include your AARP member number too.

By default to be an AARP member you must be 50 or higher. How do you happen to be an AARP member >30? As far as I know it is your age the allows for membership, not age of retirement.

awesome! Thanks for this useful information!

"and you damn kids....stay off my lawn!"

Nice! Sent this on to my old man; he will love it!

Taco Bell also offers a Senior Discount (10%). I use it for the flatbread. Yes,I'm an old guy

I asked about Senior Discounts at my local Wendy's. The cashier says that they offer a discount on Wednesdays. I'm going to return one of these Wednesdays and ask for the discount.
