As of yesterday 12/27/11, T-Mo and Wal-Mart began offering Unlimited Web to the $45 plan. Granted it's only 200mb of 3g, then throttled, alot of people don't need a whole lot if you are around alot of Wifi. My typical month is about 200mb and I use my android alot for surfing... NOT downloading, or hotspotting.

What happens after the promotion ends?

For the low price unlimited plans Tmobile offers these options. All are unlimited talk, text and web but the web is at different speeds. ALL options are BYOD, but I hear WalMart Family mobile phones are locked to WalMart Family mobile only; they won't work on Tmobile parent or SimpleMobile.
$40 Throttled 3G (reported around 120k) on SimpleMobile. Cheapest and can buy discount refills at Callingmart (no tax) but no roaming coverage at all. $45 200 meg 3G on WalMart Family Mobile. Have to buy through WalMart (so pay sales tax where applicable) but I think there is voice roaming (no data). $50 100 meg 4G/3G on Tmobile itself. Can buy discount refills at Callingmart (no tax) and includes voice roaming. $60 2 gigs 4G/3G on Tmobile itself. $70 5 gigs 4G on Tmobile itself.
There is also a $30 plan for new Tmobile activations that includes 5 gigs of data and unlimited texts but only 100 voice minutes. For comparison, AT&T Mvnos are a bit more expensive, starting at $45 on StraightTalk but you have to do a 'trick' and buy a phone to store in drawer (currently on sale for $50). Sprint MVNOs can be a bit cheaper but you may be more limited on devices, and Verizon MVNOs are generally the most expensive on data options.

do take tax and fees into account. I was looking at Wal plan, then realize it was not traditional prepaid. They do bill you at the end of the month which will add taxes and fees.(my current plan is $30 but I paid $36 so you're looking at about 20%.
which mean this plan is ~$54 against Simple mobile $40 even.

You all missed the best WalMart / T-Mobile plan out there (if you don't talk a lot).
$30/month (around $28 with discounts & coupons from various sources) for "unlimited" faux-4G data (5GB then throttled to 2G), unlimited text but only 100 minutes of voice (10c a min thereafter) and since it is prepaid there is no contract. I am consistently getting 8-12MBps downloads on my Galaxy S2.
I've been paying ATT contract plan at $75 month with 2GIG data, ZERO text & 400 minutes for years. This saves me $540 a year and if I needed more minutes the extra 300, to equal my ATT plan, would only cost me $30 and is still below what I have been paying. I generally don't use 100 minutes over 2 months. Obviously if you're a real big talker this is no good but today most people are using text and internet and talking very litte.
You can use ANY T-Mo or other unlocked device.

In the above $45 discussion nobody mentioned you can add 4 lines at $25 each and they have all the unlimited features so if you have 2 or more phones this plan is less than $40 per month per phone.

Except (per the message copied below) the 200MB is shared in ONE pool among all 4 lines. That's 200mb total for 4 people.

damn it!!! i was planning on switching over 5 family members on the 45 + 25 additional line (unlimited talk and text) (NO WEB DATA) this coming january/. now it's gone and they want $35 additional !!! i don't need no stinking data plan... now gotta go find some other carrier
And the best thing is $40 FLAT !! No other fees at all
I love my unlocked iphone with unlimited data for $40 lol

Awesome info - so much appreciated. Could you point me in the right direction for a coupon as you stated? Since I am not sure about the call quality in my area I might go with a cheap a$$ phone first to see how this is working out. So any unlocked GSM would do?

You don't get discounts on the PLAN you get discounts on the $30 refills. There are always 2% to 5% and sometimes 10% discounts available on refill "cards" (minutes/pins) from many sources and/or eBay.
I used the AMEX $25 "small business" bill credit deal with 7 AMEX cards to buy 7 $30 refill pins for $5 each from my local cell phone store so I'm basically $5/month for the next 7 months but 2%-5% is readily available.
There are no taxes or fees on the $30 plan since it is a PREPAID plan. If you buy your minutes locally you will pay your sales tax but if you buy them from most online places there is no sales tax.

I signed up on 12/24, three days before 12/27, is that why, or is everyone's unlimited deal expiring on Macrh 31st?
Also, I found out the hard way that taxes and fees are not like they are for Pre-paid plans. Three lines $45 + $25 + $25 = $95 / 3 = $31.667 per line turned out to be after Taxes & Fees for three lines: $$117.81 which is $39.27 per each of the three lines.
So wait, is mysimplemobile.com $40 out of pocket for each line? Why not abandon myfamilymobile.com for mysimplemobile.com, what are the pros & cons if it's $40 for talk, text, web at mysimplemobile.com?

It appears that mysimplemobile only gets you 119kbps. Way too slow, that's not what people have in mind when they think of 3G.Whereas WalMart gets you at least five times the speed of mysimplemobile.
Also, did not realize that this deal is $35 each additional line, up from $25 they were offering before. So you pay extra $10 for each line now vs. before you had free data for three months then $40 WebPak gets you 1GB put on and the 1GB never expires until used up by all lines on the account.
$40 for 1GB was probably cheaper for light users vs. extra $10 every month for every line.
Bottom line: multi-line plan was better for light data users before they upped the extra line charge even though they offer free data now. But I'm not sure if this is still the best multi-line plan out there now.

You just use regular minutes for the important calls and VOIP for the less critical calls. Probably the most reliable VOIP is to buy Skype for $3 month. So you pay around $31.50 a month after discounts on calling cards and $3 month for Skype.

I thought W@lMart plans do not use calling cards and plus they have heavy taxes & fees, my Walm@rt plan does. I got mine just before the price hike for $45 plus $25 each addn'l line.
Three lines are $45+$25+$25= $95 but out of pocket is nowhere near $95, it's actually around $118.
This thread is for $45 + $35 each addn'l. But includes Data and my does not, even though they've been throwing in free data for a while.
How much is the 100 minute W@lmart plan after taxes and fees really?
