Office Depot has H&R Block At Home Deluxe 2011 Federal + State + 5 Federal e-files $39.99 + $15 Office Depot GC (MIR) = $24.99.

Mail-in rebate for a $15 Office Depot Gift Card. So basically brings the price down to $25.

Just posted Office Depot- plenty of places still selling it.

agree, TaxAct usually cheaper (for fed and state) and just as good. I locked in at $13.95 with free phone support a while back

I agree, I have used them for several years and it has not cost me a penny yet!

Whatever happened to all the FAR deals? They finally figure out there was no benefit to them by offering?

Hi! Did anybody find any significant differences between Turbo Tax & TaxAct ,both used online, besides the price.
Can you access previous years returns in TaxAct?
TIA

You have to pay for the deluxe version to import the previous year data. Still for me an outstanding deal.No rebate to worry about and free e-filing.

Your TaxAct Fees:
For TaxAct Online Deluxe, your Federal Return fee is $9.95 and State (CA) Return fee is $8.00. Additional State Returns are $14.95.
The Final Version of TaxAct Online 2011 will be released around January 6, 2012. You will be able to e-file your return and check your e-file status at that time.

Hotdealsclub.com posted what appears to be a legitimate offer of Free TurboTax for Mac all versions - Basic, Deluxe, Premier and Home & Business. Not clear how long this is in effect. Link

I have been using H&R Block tax software in the past a few years. I also used Turbo Tax as double check. (BTW, if you have a state farm on line account, you can use TurboTax for free and pay for filing.) I found TurboTax has better on-line data input ability than H&R. How is TaxAct in this regard?

Office Depot is offering about $1300 worth free software after rebates with any tax software purchase.

That deal has been discussed on FW and is linked in the Quick Summary.

Thanks for posting--this is a good price.
A few years ago I purchased this from eBay for $49.95. The same guy/company sells it to me for the same price every year if I'm willing to use google checkout. he mails the official cd to my house.

nice summary. thanks op

Just remember if your income low enough 'CHECK YOU MAY BE SURPRISED" You can find many FREE options plus many states now offer online free option with state filing http://www.irs.gov/efile/

I stay away from TurboTax because of a major error that almost cost me $4K in taxes one year. It even had a math error subtracting two numbers in a different spot. In short, you still need to look over your return for issues.

Presumably the cited Costco prices for versions of TurboTax are Jan. 5-29 $10 off "coupon" period.

I look over my returns for issues with any software. I've had H&R Block At Home make errors too.

I received unexpected FREE offer by mail from TaxCut last week. Received a CD ROM for Home Deluxe Federal and State plus 5 electronic filings. They noticed I didn't use them last year and want me back as a customer or something.

Anyone else received this free offer from H&R Block?

Same here for not paying AMT few years ago... Their guarantee about paying for their error is complete utter BS as I contacted them about this math error and they gave me song and dance about what their "warranty" excludes.

Thanks for the credit for the Mac TurboTax

They have guarantees about that stuff. Also did you update your software before filing. They alwalys seem to have updates when i get any of the boxed type software for taxes.

For people with Vanguard Flagship Services or Asset Management Services you can get Turbo Tax Deluxe for free. Unfortunely, Turbo Tax Deluxe does not include calculations for investiment income. You need to upgrade to Premier for $9.95. I am not sure how many people would have a Vanguard account without needing to calculate investiment tax.

The price seems right, but I've always been hesitant to buy software off of eBay.
I'm always worried it might not be legit.

You say you received the official CD.
Was the CD you got an original from Intuit or was it a copy?

Yes, it does.

TurboTax no state is currently priced $39.99 at Costco so I'd assume you are correct.

Hot.. Hot. Hot...

OP, please change Target HRBlock At Home Deluxe Fed+State to $24 [$39 - $5 (store coupon) - $10 coupon printed from web site]. Have it here right next to me.

OK, update, this may be a YMMV thing.

I just purchased it myself, it seemed that it was $44.99 - $5 = 39.99 in store, -$10 coupon = $29 after coupon. At least, that's what my receipt says. I think OP is correct.

If you invest with Vanguard, you can get discounts on TurboTax online or download. Depending on the amount invested, you could pay as little as 9.95 for TurboTax Premier download with state.

Thanks BPH789, I received this and had just thrown it away without reading it. Doing some New Years cleaning, luckly it was still at the top of the trash!! Been doing TaxAct for the last couple of years but may have to go for the free H&R Block this year.

TaxCut deluxe + state + 5 efile = $19 per the below link
$19taxcut

I switched to Tax Slayer from TurboTax last year cause there only $15 with state and they remember your info from last year. It's a little differant than TurboTax, but saves me money. If your active duty military they are free for Fed and State.

I don't know about the $5 (store coupon), but there is a $10 MIR and a 5% discount with your Target Red card.

This $10 MIR works for H&R Block at Home, for Best Buy, Target, Fry's, Office Depot, OfficeMax, and Micro Center.
