Club Nintendo has offered the opportunity to earn Nintendo related rewards via purchases and surveys for some time. However, the few games they have traditionally offered have been poor and/or VERY pricey in terms of coins. Thankfully, that has now changed, as they are rotating a selection of games with relatively low coin requirements.
NOTE: These are NOT Wii points and cannot simply be purchased. They are coins earned through various means, typically by purchasing Nintendo brand titles and completing surveys.
Grill-Off with Ultra Hand (80 coins) seems to now be permanent
Current games Wii: Mario Kart 64 200 coins (1/7/20113-2/10/2013) Snowpack Park 150 coins (1/7/20113-2/10/2013)
Ways to earn coins (looking for confirmation/details on DS game coins, as I have only done Wii and 3DS) 160 - Enter the serial number off a Wii, 3DS, DSi, or DSi XL (presumably or a Wii U) 50 - Enter a redemption code from a Nintendo brand Wii game and complete the quick survey 30 - Enter a redemption code from a Nintendo brand 3DS game and complete the quick survey 30(?) - Enter a redemption code from a select Nintendo brand DS game and complete the quick survey 20 - Complete the follow up survey on a 3DS game 10 - Complete the follow up survey on a Wii game or WiiWare game (if console and account are linked) 10(?) - Complete the follow up survey on a DS game or DSWare game (if console and account are linked) 10 - Complete other miscellaneous surveys (such as customer satisfaction) 10 bonus coins - Indicate "Intend to buy" in the days leading up to a game's release and receive these coins on code redemption (can be quite a while later from what I understand) 10 bonus coins - Enter a game's redemption code within 1 month of release
Gold and Platinum status 300 coins entered in a year (July 1 to June 30, I think) earns Gold status and a prize at the end of the year (has been a calendar) 600 coins entered in a year earns Platinum status and a better prize at the end of the year (changes each year)
These don't really expire (at least not for a LONG time), so I'm unclear as to why you would think someone would do this.... (more)

If I remember correctly the email they sent members a while back stated that there will be new games rotating in after these expire. Like you I haven't been impressed by the prizes but this seems like a great program they're starting by adding games.
Also if you're new to the club make sure to check the cases of old games; my 2+ year old Wii Fit Plus was worth 100 points when I discovered this a few months back.
Edit: Found the blurb about this: New! For a limited time only, use your Coins to get these downloadable games. Club Nintendo chooses great games based on member feedback, and will announce a new surprise selection next month. You must have a Wii or Nintendo 3DS to redeem. Featured games are also available for standard purchase from the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo eShop.

Wii, 3DS, DSi XL and DSi are each worth 160 points.
great! how do I get them? I've only downloaded freebies from club wii upto now...
In the OP's link you just need to register the pin from the flyer in the manual or I think with the systems you can enter the serial number. Most games will have the flyer tucked in the manual section.
7Enigma said: Fluidity is an AWESOME game. For a buck fifty it is a must have...think I paid $10 shortly after it came out. Very cool physics-based water game.
Note these are NOT Wii Points (where 1 cent = 1 point). These are Club Nintendo points, which are earned through the codes/surveys included with games.
Prior to this promo, the old school Mario Bros tshirt was the only thing I had any desire for at all. But these games far exceeded that, and if they keep having decent titles, this could end up being great in the long run.
I have really liked Mario vs. DK; it reminds me of Lemmings. But I'm REALLY hoping for 3D classics Excitebike soon.

Good to know. In any case my comment about fluidity still stands, awesome game!

You know Zelda Four Swords is available for free now, right?
omfg!!!! 'running to tv while shoving women and children out of the way'
edit: dang its not on the wii, only dsi which i dont have 'helping out the women and children i pushed down'
LOL...sorry I wasn't more specific.
I read a bunch of reviews on Fluidity before I got it and posted this. I was thoroughly impressed with what others were saying and can't wait to get home to try it out.
Updated OP with better detail hopefully. Maybe this thread can now serve a more long term purpose as well. If you have suggestions or corrections for the information in there, please let me know.
I think I'll get up to platinum this year just for the hell of it. Although the knick knack they send is probably going to go on eBay. I have too much junk as it is. It would be cool if they offered some limited edition game rather than a plastic statue. I'm not complaining, just my opinion guys.
I am actually very grateful that Nintendo does this in the states, as they had been doing this in Japan for years.
3DS is a great system, as is Wii. I pretty much got away from PS3/360 and stick with the Nintendo consoles. I am hard pressed to recommend a 360 to anyone these days due to failure rate and that you have to pay to play online. Wii is where it's at imho.
DoctorDeals said: Bump for last day of the deal. Hopefully we'll see some new game choices tomorrow. According to the webpage, these offers go through the end of the month, so it's not too late if you haven't jumped on it yet!
Also, I was able to register all of my Nintendo-brand games without issue, but not my Wii console. I put in the S/N, but it's still asking for the fancy code. I looked through the literature that I kept with it and couldn't find a Club Nintendo code. Did all Wii consoles come with this registration key, or just later ones? (I probably bought mine 12 to 18 months after it came out.) Has anyone had success in getting registration points just for the S/N (i.e., without the Club Nintendo registration code)?

Actually, that post was about the last batch of games (see the Quick Summary). I'm guessing Nintendo will be rotating them around the 11th of each month, although I can't find a specific statement yet of exactly when the current crop expires.
As for the Wii, I'm disappointed it's giving you grief since I too have an older unit I was hoping to register for the points once I need them. I can say that I recently registered a 3DS, and I'm almost certain the Club Nintendo insert actually just gave the S/N and not a normal code, but I could be remembering wrong.

Actually, I just found this on the Club Nintendo webpage: Wii consoles released after May 9, 2010 do qualify for Coins when the PIN has been registered in Club Nintendo and the associated survey has been completed. The PIN can be found on an insert included with the system. Wii owners can also register the serial number for their newly purchased system and receive a free 90-day warranty extension. A short survey may be required. I got mine in spring 2008, so it must not have come with it (and therefore not qualify for the bonus). I may try to ask customer service whether there is something I can do.
DoctorDeals said: If you do ask CS, please keep us posted. Here is the response I received: Thank you for contacting Nintendo. I can certainly understand your concern.
The 160 Coin offer is a promotion that is exclusive to Wii bundles that shipped after May 2010. Members of Club Nintendo who purchase a qualifying bundle may register the system serial number and the PIN that was included in the packaging.
If you registered a Wii that was purchased before May 2010, the system would have received a 90-day extension to the warranty. Please note that the warranty extension applies only if the system is still within the one-year warranty when it is registered.
Keep registering your products and checking our website for any new promotions that may come up! So, it's basically the same thing indicated in the FAQ list. I bought mine in 2008, hence why I didn't receive a registration PIN. I don't think pursuing the issue further would yield any results.
If you did purchase a system shipped after May 2010, you may have more luck (or, hopefully you kept the PIN card).
Dang. I didn't realize they already cycled Majora's Mask. Oh well...that's what I get for snoozing. At least it seems they are going to cycle on the month now, which is a way more logical time to do it.
EDIT: OP and QS updated. Let's hope this month's selection is not going to be the norm moving forward.
Added Grill Off with Ultra Hand to the OP, even though I have no idea what it is. Still, it's only 80 points, and may be outside of the games that are being cycled monthly. It apparently is a Club Nintendo exclusive.
DoctorDeals said: Bump for last day of this month's games AND I had a new 10 coin survey. Others may too. Thanks for bumping this. You prompted me to login, where enough surveys greeted me to hit 200 coins again!
Also note that as June 30 approaches, coins entered between July 1 2010 and June 30 2011 may be expiring.
Do Coins Expire? Answer:
Yes. Unredeemed Coins expire after 2 Club Nintendo years (July 1-June 30). When logged in, you can view your Coin Balance with the account information at the top of the page. See Terms and Conditions for more information.
Updated for July. Another great title released, but for three weeks only. Notice both games this month have strange end dates.
C.N is saying Platinum and Gold rewards for last reward year will be announced soon. The new year has now started. Codes entered between now and June 30, 2013 expire June 30, 2014.
