    Why?

I booked a trip to Vegas through SW Vaca in 2010. Southwest Vacations isn't actually owned or operated by Southwest Airlines... it's a travel company out of Michigan or Minnesota... so when you book through Vacations, you do not receive an e-ticket (which allows for 24-hour check-in) nor do you receive any of the price adjustment coverages offered through the airline itself. (With SW Vaca, you get a "paper ticket" which you have to redeem in-person at the airport for your boarding pass... meaning you'll probably be sitting on the wing or roof of the airplane.)

I booked my package (with air & hotel), only to watch the flights drop significantly two days later. Tried to call SW Vaca to see if I could get the price difference back and/or cancel my package and get a full refund... couldn't do either. No adjustments allowed and if I canceled my package, I would be charged $100 per person (x2 in my party) as a cancellation fee. With the price difference in fares and another discount directly from the hotel, it was only $50 total more to cancel and re-book the entire vacation, which I did out of frustration and anger with the SW Vacations experience.

I'm usually a very understanding/forgiving customer and a fairly passive person in disputes... but I've completely written this company off until Southwest Airlines brings the "Vacations" piece under its corporate umberella.
