If your a "fan" you would know the price is high for this type of rifle.

Unless you plan on doing some old-school trench warfare anytime soon and just can't wait...it would make sense to hold off until the price drops or the deals from the other places come back in stock.

do you need a license to purchase?

Model 53 (6.23kB)

This is not a 91/30 , this is a very good price on this model,The cheapest I have seen this model in yrs is $199 and that was several yrs ago, Yes you need to have it shipped to an FFL licensed dealer to p/u unless you have a c&r license. The picture shown above are 91/30's these are 53's very different in style and have the bayonet attached to the gun. If you don't have knowledge about what your talkin about please be quiet.

I think you need to take your own advice. No one said they were the same as the other model.

I don't know how you like to collect but if I'm looking for a particular model to complete my collection..I like to know the condition. These are listed as "ugly with lots of small dents and dings." Yes, for $10 more you can get the "best" out of 5..but by the description...they all seem to be pretty worn.

Your first post said it best: "not the best rifle out there for the money"

I have several Mosins. I have 1 hex Tula, 1 hex Finnish and 2 round Izzy's. They are all great shooters. There is definitely a noticeable difference in quality with the Finnish Mosin. I prefer all of them to the Chinese models. Russian Mosins can be had for $100. This seems like a fair price for a Mosin.

Thanks for the post OP.

type 53 is a m44, this is an amazing price!

Yes, you will need a FFL to have it shipped. (It's the law.) At the very least you will need a C&R License, which are cheap and easy to get if you have a clean background. If you don't want to do any of that, local gun shops or other FFL holders can have the gun shipped to them and then you generally pay them a modest handling fee for their trouble/paperwork.

Absolutely. In fact, ClassicArms.us has Mosins for under $100 if you're just wanting a cheap gun and not too worried about collectible value. This is how I've amassed my little arsenal. Cheap, rugged, decent.

You're 2/3 of the way to a handi rifle and 1/2 way to a couple decent bolt actions ready to go right out of the box with modern calibers.

C&R was as easy as filling out a form and waiting for it to come back. I recomend it if a transfer would cost more then $30 near you or you want to buy more then 1 in the next 3 years.

Am I missing it on the site? I don't see the chinese ones.

Cheez with that whine, Like I said its not the best rifle for the money meaning your gonna pay a heck of a lot more for one elsewhere as these are extremely hard to find, but you wouldn't know that since you seem to know everything else

Scroll down the page on the link provided and the 1st rifle you'll see is the 1

If I wanted that then thats what I would have posted about, Since I didn't whats the point of your post other than being indifferent or ardently opposed to the deal in a way that would make some sort of sense. Also if someone can point me to a price lower than this for this model rifle, then please do so,We are all waiting to see it

Thanks for posting OP.

I clicked on this post because I had no idea what a "Chinese Mosin Ngants" was. I thought it was a post about sandals.

Give you green.

I guess it's a good thing Apple didn't make one.

I'm the only one in this room professional enough, that I know of, to carry this Glock 40.

To paraphrase: OMFG! ROFLMAO!

Wow, no one has noticed this tidbit of racism?

"I was told the Chinese lettering either says Kill the Round Eye or # 296 Beef with Broccoli"

You mean as a round eye, I'm supposed to be offended? I grew up in an era when George Jefferson and Fred Sanford called my people "honky" every week. Everybody's just too sensitive these days.

One question - I have heard that the Chinese have refused to provide serial numbers and the years in which any firearms were manufactured for "security' reasons. Therefore, I have heard that we might not be allowed to use our C&R licenses, even if they are obviously older than 50 years. Does anyone know if this is true? Has anyone bought one of these Chinese ones using a C&R? Thanks

If they say C&R eligible, I'd think it would be safe to buy.

You don't need a serial number to be C&R eligible. I have an old Sears 22 without, but I bought that locally so didn't have to test that out.

Cabela's has this rifle for 99.99 1-19-2012 to 1-29-2012 the website shows 149.99 but they are infact 99.99 as shown in this weeks flyer seen them in store there very nice shape and they include the accessories

Just looked at the one on Cabelas - that is not the Chinese one - so therefore it is not the same rifle - read all the posts that was already discussed. $100 is not that uncommon still for a mosin nagant unless you get into specifics which the Cabelas website does not. On the same website listed (classic arms) they have some below $100. Also the ones on AIM are supposed to be great quality and they are below $100 as well when in stock.

And actually they are listed as "good" condition with some dents. That is not "ugly" last I checked. Either way these are a decent price for this type of nagant so green for the OP.

http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shooting/Centerfire-Rifles/Bolt-A... , heres the link for the Cabelas Mosin, Its a 91/30 which you can buy all day at most guns shows as well as pawn shop and dealers like Cabelas,The model I posted is an M44 model 53, very collectable and hard to find, except I now have 5 of them on the way. I don't know if they are still available, but SOG and Centerfire arms have them as well from what I hear so quite a few made it into the country lately, So grab one if interested in a piece of history and a way cool gun to shoot and hunt with. They kick like a mule and are very accurate for a gun of this calber. I can shoot inside 5 inches and less all day long with some of my MosinsPLEASE FOLKs get your info right before posting on this if possible, most of you have not even been close about these fine relics of days gone by with regards to make ,model, or pricing. If you are not sure, don't post

So did anyone buy any other than myself cause they are low on stock. BTW they are gonna have some K98 Mausers for sale in a day or so,Don't know the pricing yet but another very shootable/collectable rifle IMHO.

Mausers go up for sale at noon

New batch of Yugo SKS in stock for $299, pretty good price for these as they look really good and NRA rated excellent , http://www.classicarms.us/firearms.htm

Still up for sale

Just because it is listed on the website as "in stock" it does not necessarily mean you will get the items from Classic. Twice I have placed orders when they had listed as in stock and both times they were out of stock and they just canceled the order without even bothering to e-mail or anything. Another item was on backorder and yet again no e-mail or anything. Have made past purchases and have been happy but last few were just crap. Terrible website and bad services. Have been taking my business elsewhere lately.
