This diet is such an atrocious idea.

You'd be surprised how few calories a human being can comfortably live with. Part of the reason it sounds so tiny is because everyone is used to 1000-calorie desserts at the Cheesecake Factory.

But the hCG diet is a little problematic. My question is, do these recipes mimic the effect of hCG or do we need to find a pregnant woman to urinate in all our food?


You can do 500 calories a day, but you have no energy .
And are very CrankY!!

Plus hte shots can cost $150 a week

The human body generates about 60 Watts of heat while you're sleeping/at rest. The standard measure used in the HVAC industry is to assume each office worker in a building is a 100 Watt heat source, and plan your air conditioning needs accordingly.

60 Watts * 24 hours = 5.2 million Joules = 1.24 million calories = 1240 food calories
100 Watts * 16 hours + 60 Watts * 8 hours = 7.5 million Joules = 1.79 million calories = 1790 food calories

In other words, if all you did was lie in bed all day, your body would still need 1240 calories/day to maintain itself. A more realistic minimum (16 hours working on a computer/watching TV + 8 hours sleeping) is about 1800 calories/day.

That's how much energy you need to maintain yourself. If you drop below these figures, your body has to survive by burning stored energy. Initially blood sugar and carbs, then fat, then eventually muscle protein. You cannot "live" on 500 cal/day.

Looks like it's a "borrow free" book; not one you can keep. The only option I see is buy for $9.99. (I am a prime member).


Anyone who believes that the HCG diet works deserves to have their money taken away. 500 Calories a day alone will make you lose weight. Adding a Hormone by sub-q injection that is intended to reduce testicular atrophy.
