oh man...the nearest store is an hour away from my home but 30 mins from work...I was gonna wait for the Ivy Bridge for my build but I just may have to build it ahead of schedule with this. I mean how much better can the Ivy Bridge be for a casual gamer/web surfer...even the 2600k is probably overkill.

yeah its a bad habit I have...I always try to get the best and I always realize I went overboard after the fact.
ugh, these guys already had the best price online on both this and the i5 2500k, but only B&M. No MicroCenters in my state, and now this just to rub it in? I'll have to wait for ivy bridge just so the price can come down on these at other stores...
fyi, they normally take $50 off a mobo online or in store with purchase of this at $279. im assuming the $50 off negates that discount. If you need a mobo anyways, its a good deal all the time.

YMMV, but many reports of the mobo deal still good with coupon.

If so, this is an AMAZING deal. Wow.
I still remember paying $230 for the processor and $180 for my motherboard near launch for my i5-2500k and P67 UD4 lol.

Like root said, this proc is 279.99 normally at MC. Like I posted before, many reports of people getting the 50 off mobo deal with it. This is a HOT deal. Heck, the proc is 90 off (before tax) compared to Newegg's price without the mobo deal.
everyone that is getting this deal what mobo are you suggesting to get for it? I'm probably going to browse the MC site to see what mobo they got but a few suggestion would also be nice to compare to. thanks.

Any 1155 socket motherboard. Most accept DDR3 Ram.
Get a Z68 based mobo and 1600 MHz RAM. With the onboard graphics of this CPU, you don't need a dedicated graphics card if the mobo provides for onboard graphics. This board has VGA/DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort, for example: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
I am lucky to have a MC near me and it is in a town that gets to charge half the NJ sales tax. I picked up a i5 2500k from them for about $170 or $180 back when the B3 stepping boards were just coming out. MC seems to always have fantastic pricing if you happen to be local. I may have a MC near me but I don't have a Fry's, which is also an awesome store to have local to you.

Any socket 1155 board as other member posted, but you would be best served in getting a board with a Z68 Chipset. I would suggest getting Asus or ASRock brand.
just picked up the 2500k last week for my new build. decided to save the $100 vs the 2600k but now the difference is $50 ! Now I need to decide if it is worth 50 beans and 1hr drive for 100 mhz (maybe a little more oc headroom ) and hyperthreading! what does the tech savy fw'ers think ?
