be careful if you don't have HDMI control (CEC) capable devices, the pass through can not work. In order to make it work, the device's HDMI control need to set enable. This rule apply to Pioneer receiver.

FWIW, according to camelcamelcamel, the lowest this receiver was priced was $140 on Cyber Monday.
Great receiver - picked this up from Best Buy last week and couldn't be happier. Same engine as the higher end VSX-921K without the wiz bang (air play etc, etc..)Wanted the Denon, but for $200 less it can't be beat.

In just about all cases, receivers are updated every year. Buying the "old" model at the reduced price is exactly what you want to do, unless you KNOW there is some key new feature you cannot live without.
