What kind of batteries do they need? Is there any zoom or other features?

Saw them a couple days ago. They take 3x AAA batteries.
Funny thing is, there was a package labeled "150 lumens" 3 pack CREE flashlights mixed in. They looked EXACTLY the same. Hahah.

repost?

my pack said 150 lumens. unless they have a new 3 pack?

They have a new 3 pack.

I wish they sell the ones that take a single AA rather than 3 AAAs. Would be less hassle to replace, charge etc.

They probably need to step up the 4.5V, not just a matter of current capacity... At any rate, most same class battery 3xAAA > 1xAA.

There is a new set 3 pack thats 200 lumens with this price.

I just bought the 150 lumens 3-pack... wish I had found the higher lumens but these are okay.

Right next to it they have the Sanyo Eneloop on sale for like $20 (8 AA, 4 AAA, and charger).

They need probably at least 3V to forward bias the diode. I don't know the exact spec, but most of the Cree LED spec sheets I've seen are 3V or higher. They need 3 batteries in case one uses rechargeable and to keep the light going when the batteries drain down I guess. The reason they choose AAA over AA is because with 3AA the diameter will be pretty big. I guess they could make it longer also like Maglight.

If it fits, I guess one could throw a 18650 or 18500 or something along those lines in there too.

Thanks for the photo. At one of the Orlando stores, all they had were the 150 XPE (boxes and boxes of them) and none of the new XPG.

You could return the 150 Lumen set at Costco. The 150 Lumen is Cree XPE L.E.D. and says 5,000 Candlepower and beam range 100m. The 200 Lumen says Cree XPG L.E.D. and 6,000 candlepower, 150 meter range. Both say 1 hour on high beam and 4 hours on low beam. 200 lumen is $15.99 with $4 instant rebate, the 150 lumen is $14.99.

18650 does not fit. Plus don't forget the flashlight has an active voltage monitoring system, there is a low indicator.
