Thanks OP! This is the best price on this printer I've seen in a few months. Ordered one.

If I didn't have a 2170W, I'd get one. Duplex is nice but not worth switching IMO. I just keep the scrap paper and every year or so, run those sheets back through and print on the clean side.

Just to confirm, you bought the printer first at staplės' normal price, then chatted with the rep? Or did you have the rep actually place the order for you? And you can use a coupon on a price-match?

Nice find, green for you!

I confirmed the price match first on live chat.
After confirmation I had to put the order with original price and coupon.
The chat session was on. And I have my order number to the represetative and he adjusted to final price.

If you need scanning capability too, you can consider the Brother HL-2280DW this week for approx $75+tax.
It is available at Staples for $99.99 and you can use a $25 off $75 coupon from ejunkie. Don't forget to go through fatwallet to get the 5% CashBack.
It might show up as out of stock on Staples.com (but shows availability in stores), but keep checking through the week as it seems to get re-stocked.

Been looking for a good deal on this printer. The combo with the high yield toner cartridge is approximately $106, less than you'd usually pay for the printer normally. Good deal!

i own the same machine as well, with the cheapest OEM (actual brother cartridge which is all i buy) high yield toner cartridge i could find being ~$46 for the 2170. instead of buying the toner for 46, i spent a net sum of $9.90 more than the toner and i got a printer that's brand new, prints faster, has a faster time to first print, and prints duplex. on top of that, by making the purchase with an AMEX, i'm renewing the credit card extended warranty which gives me two more years from today of warranty on the printer. the old 2170 would have been 2 years old come 4/28/12. also, i'm thinking i can get 25 to 50 on craigslist for the old printer to have money in my pocket by making the switch. i think it sounds like a good deal for a lil work.

I think the OP can change the price in the title to $58.84 plus the cost of ejunkie coupon

Edit. if it does break after manufacturers warranty ends, because of the way Staples is doing the price match and coupon in the chat, the original receipt for me shows 133.74 as the total. the price match is given in a separate transaction which means the warranty claim would be on $133.74. way more than what was paid.

ps. it might take away from my toner argument (or add to it since it was about to run out), but in my year and eight months of owning the 2170, i'm still on the original toner (even though i recently had to cover the eye to make it keep printing), i'll come out way ahead if i can get the same toner life from the new printer. i've only used it to print checks and since january for regular print jobs.

SOLD OUT at 9:22 PM EST. Great deal though.

deal is not over, Staples is price matching costco and accepting 25 off 75 coupon for a net price of around $61 shipped

Do you happen to know if Staples will PM Costco even if there is no Costco in my area?

Dick said:   Do you happen to know if Staples will PM Costco even if there is no Costco in my area?

That is a very good question, as there is no costco in my area either. This may totally be YMMV though, but, in preparation, what i did was search for the nearest costo to me which also has a Staples in the area, which was about 68 miles away. when you start the chat with the Staples rep and tell them you want to price match. their first question is something along the lines of, who's the competitor, the item, the price, identifying information for you, and finally, ZIP CODE. I gave the zip code of the area with the costco and Staples in it, she researched it, came back to me and said there would be a limit of 2 for me (which i didn't get because i swear i didn't see a limit on costco)If she would have came back to me and said my zip code was in a different area of my billing or shipping, i was going to say i was physically in the area with the costo and could simply go to the store and buy it, but that didn't happen. her instructions were for me to go ahead and place the order on the Staples site using whatever coupon i want to use (25 off 75) and give her the order number when i was done. as soon as you give the rep your order number, within about a minute, she chats back the amount that will be refunded and sends a confirmation email of the amount of the refund. I bought 2 yesterday in 2 separate transactions but in the same chat session. i'm going to try for a 3rd today (not being greedy, my friend needed 2 and i wanted to replace my old one since i can come out ahead)

edit: the area might not even matter at all since Staples price matches the costco website and i could have simply ordered from the costco website whether i live near one or not.

This came to:

$158.43 original cost
+$1.59 ejunkie cost
-$03.96 fat·cash
-$25.00 coupon discount
-$82.20 pricematch
-$01.58 creditcard cash·back
————
$ 47.28ish

I can't exactly say why the PM was 82.20... Also, I paid 1.59 for the coupon, not 1.83 (look before clicking the first seller).

Smashing deal! Thanks again all!

Just received an E-Mail from Target for Brother HL-2270DW close-out at $78.29.
Brother HL-2270 DW
Not sure about free shipping

I bought six throughout the day using the Costco / Staples price match. Each time the price match was different. Some were as low as $76.20, and some were as much as $84.01. WTH?

Actually, if anyone knows the secret to a higher adjustment (I didn't want to say, "I just bought one and they adjusted by X amount!"), please post....

Thanks for the heads up on the HL-2280dw to recheck for stock status. It wasn't available yesterday so I ordered the HL-2270dw and I just ordered the HL-2280dw when it was available. Good thing I had another one of those $25 off $75 coupon around.

Does anyone know if there's a lower price around to price match on the HL-2280dw?

This is still alive - I just got in on it, total came to about $55 after all the coupons, etc. Took about 5 minutes and the Staples chat rep was awesome.

I just picked one up too. Staples rep adjusted the price in 10 seconds - no hassles whatsoever

I tried before 9 AM this morning (Feb 27), and Costco has run out, so Staples wouldn't do the price-match.
