hmmm, usually i don't buy small (off) branded electronics... but for 20 bucks maybe i'll make an exception. i'll check my local CVS today. Could use a small tv on the boat for the times the fish aren't biting.
Picked up two for weather reports. Good thing I speak some Spanish...even though I live 5 miles from the antenna farm I can only receive Telemundo, Univision, and five religious channels. Also, It seems to be the Craig TV/DVD combo for $19.95 Model #CTV1703

The whip antenna is only good for VHF frequencies. Most DTV stations actually transmit on UHF, so get yourself a UHF/VHF antenna with a coax connector at the Shack. I use this one.

Hell yeah, saw this and walked down to the local CVS and got the last TV. They also have their lookbook tablet thing on sale for 20 bucks. Got the TV and lookbook and dr. pepper for $45 out the door. Thanks OP!

These crappy little HDTV's have soured consumers on the whole idea of portable HD.
Manufacturers actually designed and built HDTV's before the specs for HD were final. Major TV makers got around this by designing redundant circuits to cover all possibilities. The el-cheapo portables just don't have that, so they don't receive well.
Some newer portable designs are hitting the market. You won't be getting them for $20.

Ah, well that explains why I bought one of these a while back and had to return it... Yeah reception was horrible and you had to walk around with this 5' whip antenna sticking out of the thing. Might be good as a benchtop TV set if you have a cable connection, but they're pretty poor as portable units with a aerial antenna.

Well let's start here. This is -not- even an HDTV. It is a digital DTV, capable of receiving digital ATSC signals (maybe not so good). 480i is standard definition, based on the digital signal being either HD or SD, but this is hardly an HDTV in any respect.

Nice little critter for the kitchen, to get rid of our dinosaur "portable" from the countertop. Decent picture for the size and price when it's hooked up to cable. Not going to be watching a 3 hour movie on it any time soon, but nice for what it is. Thanks OP!

confirmed in Columbus, got one but it has a bright pixel (always on). Not a great picture but it may be great for march madness.

Just in Dublin for the parade. Had a great time. Hubby even got to sit on your team's zamboni!
I was surprised to see Jason's Deli. Loved it in Florida and again in Ohio.
I have a couple of these in different locations I paid about $45.00 for them each. They do have reception issues and the remotes on mine failed after about three months, but if you hook em to cable they work well, like the other post said they are what they are. If I can find one in my local store I will get one for a backup/gift because its a great price. I also think the guts of these are all made by the same companies. Thanx OP.

Ohhhh... aren't you smart. Ok, could have said "digital" standards, instead of HDTV... all part of the same package though, isn't it.
SD TV's are supposed to decode HD and render the resulting SD on the screen, and this item sucks at it for the reason I stated. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the only channels this thing actually receives are the few stations transmitted in SD. If so, it isn't even capable of ANY or maybe limited HD reception.
My dad was a TV & radio broadcast engineer for more than 40 years, so don't screw with me on this.

Got mine today, hooked it up in the kitchen and got 34 channels with the included antenna (I'm in suburban atlanta) including the ones I normally get in high def with my digital antenna. Picture quality was decent at best, sound was tinny all of which I expected. It's perfect for background news/entertainment while I cook. For 20 bucks this is a steal and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Thanks OP!
Where in the store are you all finding these? Went into 3 today and didn't see one. Saw a DVD player with the same brand name behind the counter at one, but that was about it.

Got mine in Bethlehem, PA. Behind the counter. Was in 2 other CVS's before finding this one.
Going to be mount it in my truck for use with a camera mounted on the back of the travel trailer. Hoping to do it wireless, but won't break my heart if I have to add a cable to the umbilical. Who knows, since I've got a hot line in the plug at at the rear, I may tap it and put another camera back there to improve on the license plate camera setup.

This looks identical to the Haier 7" that was being closed out at Target for $39.99. $20 is a good price if it has the same guts.

The 7 inch was back at $129.

The one I found was behind the counter. It really seems to vary store by store. Are people finding clearance prices on other TVs and DVD players?

You scanned it? The goodies aren't clearance marked (shelf tag) at all stores, but should come up as 19.99 regardless

Stop misleading folks with incorrect and misleading information. Perhaps your Dad knows what he's talking about, but surely you don't. You're throwing around terms incorrectly and drawing incorrect conclusions by doing that. I too was a radio and TV engineer for my entire career, most recently as Chief Engineer at a major national television network who oversaw our conversion to HD.
This is a great value, and that's what this site, and this thread, is about.

I found a store yesterday with a couple of 7" and also a couple of 3.5" .... only the 3.5 has the 75% clearance tag .. the 7" no clearance sign ... so i didn't get it ... So price 19.99 still valid? Maybe I'll go back to get the 2 7" .... i'll use it in the car for the kid to watch movies, etc so I don't care about the TV reception ... I know I get no TV at my mountain surrounded resident.

mrBobbyA said: I bought the 3.5", scan could only find 1 channel, and it couldn't hold the picture for that channel. Went back same day. Got a load of crap from mgr trying to say no returns on clearance. I kept pointing out the receipt says "Returns with receipt until 05/13/2012". Finally got a refund. What an asswipe. All he has to do is put it back on the shelf & someone else will buy it immediately.
