I was only charged $11.69 plus tax. After rebate my only cost is the sales tax. There is no charge for shipping, at least through Amazon payments. Pet food must be labeled "light".
Don't forget to get your FW rebate, that will cover the sales tax.
There is a $3.00 off printable coupon floating around with purchase of any Hills Science Diet Light bag, 12 Light cans, or 2 bags of Light Treats.

Thanks a lot to everyone for the deal, and coupon location. Everything worked as described.

Will use of the coupon reduce the amount of the rebate, thus negating it?

Not sure if Amazon Payments will void it, but Discover has 15% CB.

Has anyone called to see if there is an alternative to cutting the UPC off the package? I have 2 bags that I want to submit rebates for (I have 2 diff rebates) and a tiny dog so it'll be a long time before we need all the food. Thanks!

Thanks!I can't say for sure with this bag, but typically with pet food there are multiple layers to the bag. If you're careful you can get just the outer layer with the UPC and not tear the rest of the bag. If you have packing tape you can then tape over the opening. You could also just put the rest in zip-lock bags.

My Mom just back a letter from Hills saying she did something wrong with the rebate. Of course they didn't return her materials and she's out of luck for $12. Mom was a teacher, and summa cum laude way back when, so if she missed it, its trivial. Just so you know, I've heard of from others that Hills denies rebates arbitrarily. Kind of silly if you sell a product with a mark-up of several times manufacturing costs that one can buy once month forever, I would think, but that's what they do. So if you are not prepared to pay for, don't buy it. Just my 2 cents.

Well, that sucks I do notice the form requires lots of stupid info like the pet's date of birth and breed. Also noticed that the fine print says you cannot use mailing labels, which is pretty stupid. On the other hand, they also want first and last name entered separately. I guess I will pass on this.

By "Diet Light" they mean light on healthy ingredients for your animal's diet.

You can actually get two free bags of pet food. But one must say "light" on it and the other must say "ideal balance" . If it says neither you will not get the rebate.

Tell your Mom to just return the (very little amount of) leftover to the store where she bought it. Hill's has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, if you or your pet don't like it. Since she doesn't like it ('it' being treated unfairly), there you go! Most stores will at least give you in store credit, even without receipt, and will forward the bill to Hill's.

We had a few extra $3 off coupons for the Ideal Balance, and made a large amount of purchases (sending rebates to multiple addresses). We're filling out each rebate to a different volunteer at a no-kill local shelter, and asking the volunteers to bring in the rebate amount as a tax-exempt donation to the shelter when/if it comes in.
Thanks for the heads-up on Hills denying this rebate for a lot of people - I have copies of everything, so I'll be ready to fight it if needed.
