Answering jsilcox question below, there apparently IS extra savings or no interest available if paid for with a Sears card. This was on the top of the Shopping Cart page:
"No Interest if paid in full in 12 months on qualifying Lawn & Garden or 5% instant savings with Sears Card on Lawn and Garden items Sold by Sears over $299."
I suppose they applied the 5% prior to the extra deductions.

In for one. My old briggs plain push mower made me sweat yesterday... so I'm gonna upgrade and sell my old one on craigslist.
Hard to beat Honda for small engines.

Sorry the old one listed 275 in the title not everyone would have seen the new price, and it listed a coupon code that was no longer valid. just thought this would keep it simple...

Used my Sears Mastercard and got another $24 off (don't know how that worked, but not going to complain, it was supposed to be 5%, but seems to be 8% of the $299.99 price). Before tax I paid $230.99... My son thanks you.
(Original numbers included 86 cents rewards discount from previous purchase, sorry for the confusion...)
Update: Checked my "SHOP YOUR WAY" rewards account and noticed that I got double points for $4.60 to use later (you might get a few pennies more due to my use of rewards on the original order)...
Used the mower last night to do the first cut of the season. My son struggled with turning the mower and in the high grass, but this was only his second time mowing. He did like the self-propelled feature and since we have a completely flat yard it worked well enough. Make sure you don't try and start this mower without holding the bar on the top of the handle down, you might break the pull string, since the engine puts up a decent amount of resistance unless the handle is down...

Power being measured in cubic centimeters is something new . Is it equivalent of the explosive power of the 160cc of TNT? .

That is a great question! I would like to know that too.
I know in my neighborhood if you put it out on the curb there are a few trucks that come by before the garbage collection and take things like this and furniture.

I had one that was leaking oil to exchange under warranty. They could not find record of the sale even though I was a regular customer. Salesman who always helped me said that he had sold it to me but the new store manager said he was certain I must have bought it from another Sears store.(Shame on me for not keeping the receipt but had never had a problem before) They must have recycled as I left it and that was the last time I've been to ANY Sears.

I'm stuck on the fence here.
Whether to replace my 26 year old 22 inch 2 speed Honda for OP's. My old machine has become more and more difficult to start and at the moment it won't start. I know it'll run $70 + parts to get it going for this season.
What to do.
Thanks OP!

Any pros and cons on front wheel drive vs rear wheel drive? also, what is the 160cc equivalent to? 6.25HP? 7.25 HP?

Rear wheel drive is usually better than front wheel drive. As the bag fills, the weight over the rear wheels increases which helps traction in RWD, hurts traction in FWD. RWD also allows you to turn easier, as you are pivoting on the drive wheels. Turning around a FWD mower is the same as turning a mower that isn't self propelled. Finally, if your yard has hills, that's when RWD really shines! Try going uphill with front wheel drive.... as the weight of the mower shifts back.... and the front wheels stop making traction. When you need it the most, you end up doing all the pushing.
Not to mention that usually the RWD models have a beefier drive system.
I speak from long term ownership with both types.

RWD are more expensive too How 160cc compares to this one Craftsman 190cc* 22" Front Drive Self-Propelled EZ Lawn Mower? I thought 190 cc is more powerful and should cost more? Edit: 190cc has Briggs engine, not honda so it is $30 cheaper then then OP.

People get excited about Honda engines.... I am not saying they aren't great, I have never owned one. I CAN that my current Briggs & Stratton powered, self propelled, rear bagger, is 25 years old and starts on the first pull every time. Just last week I pulled it out of the shed after a long Cleveland OH winter, hit the primer bulb, and one easy pull later I was mowing on a tank of half stale gas.

Thanks OP. I didn't have a Sears card, but I found a Sears electronic gift card at Cardpool with an 8% discount vs its face value ($248.96 vs $270.61), which effectively let me save almost all of the sales tax amount. Paid $249 (gift card) + $8 (Paypal) = $257 total pickup at store.

Its a great engine, but I hope you have a smooth golfcourse like lawn. My Honda is in the dump with a bent crankshaft, I am back to the POS briggs mower that eats rocks.

I was able to get additional savings on this. I bought $200 Sears gift cards at local Kroger grocery store they have promotion of 4 times fuel rewards which gave me enough points to save an additional $28 of my next fuel purchase (.80 gallon x 35 gallons) Paid for it with Chase Freedom and will get 5% CashBack for grocery store purchases on the card 5% x $200 = $10 savings. I paid the remaining balance with my Sears credit card and still got the 5% off my purchase which gave me an additional $24.81. Also clicked the SearsFatWallet CashBack link to earn an extra 3%. Total price for me after all CashBack and gas rewards was 299.99 - 25 (instant in cart) - 20 (save 20 off $200) - 24.81 (5% off Sears charge card discount) - $28 (Fuel savings purchasing gift cards) - $10 (Chase rewards for grocery purchases) - $6.90 (Fatwallet 3% CashBack) - $4.00 (Sears shop your rewards points) for grand total of $181.28 then going to sell my mower on CL.

Picked up one for $255+tax using gift cards bought from GaintEagle and scored $1.00 off gas perks that I can fill my two cars atlest 30 gallons which gives me $30.00. So effectively Mower costs 225+tax. Good deal. Thanks OP.

be aware that Sears no longer maintains parts like they once did. I had a mower that was about 5 years old worked great but the bagger/mulch cover broke, they had already discontinued the part and were not making it any more. I had to mod my own repair and that wasnt easy

I had the same issue last night and called customer service because the coupon details did not exclude the mower from what I could tell, so I called customer service, and bought it over the phone, and they issued a credit for 20.00 + tax today. Of course I think it ruined my chances of getting FW CashBack.
