Someone just posted a pretty good YouTTube video of the Galaxy Tab 2.HERE
This is probably the Best 7" Android tablet on the market for price, specs and value. A Samsung Ice Cream Sandwich Tablet for just $249. Wow
With specs nearly identical specs to the current Galaxy Tab 7 plus, which sells for $419, this is a Great Deal. That's a $179 savings compared to the current Galaxy Tab 7 plus. $419 - $249 = $180 Savings
The New $249 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 easily beats the Nook Tablet and Kindle Fire Tablets.
The $199 Kindle Fire can't compete with features like: Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, microSD slot, Microphone, Front Camera, Back Camera, Smart Remote, 1GB Ram (vs 512KB in KF). Ships with full Google Play Books/Music/Movies/Apps, Amazon Kindle and Netflix apps pre-installed. All these features more than make up for the price difference.

I have no idea if this is a hot deal compared to MSRP, but green because this is the first 7" tab that I could see myself paying the extra over the $130 I paid for my refurb Nook color. This thing's specs make it a beast!

Consider waiting a little longer for 7" tablets with quad processors that will be coming out at same price and cheaper...
I got red because people don't like the idea of waiting literally a couple months for better hardware at a cheaper price. Didn't know everyone already knew this. Thought it might have been helpful....

There is always going to be something better if you keep on waiting. Question is how long do you want to keep on waiting?
This looks good, within my budget. Thanks OP. Green for you.

What'll be so cool about tablets then is that you'll be able to read, like, 17 books AT ONCE! My Kindle Fire will only let me read 1 at a time (sure - I can have others *ready* to read, but not open).

Does anyone know what kind of GPS this supports? Would it work with NAVIGON or other 3rd party nav apps? With a lsit price of $249 the Amazon pre order isnt hot though even if the device could be.

Actually, they are saying 19 books, and you don't have to read them, it will read them for you, and then create a 2 hour movie to watch instead.

Must be another tablet as this release date is Apr 22.

it might be a hot item but msrp-preorder isnt a hot deal.
I have the Samsung Galaxy 7 Plus -- paid 299 at best buy a little over a month ago. (Checked out Kindle, bought and returned Nook -- Galaxy Tab far surpases both.) My Galaxy 7 Plus has 16 GB onboard and microSD slot for up to 32 more (there is also a 32 GB onboard option). Looks like the new 7" model, as you noted, has lower storage capacity. Does it have a microSD slot? That was a big sell for me for the 7 plus.
For those comparing this to Kindle or Nook, also that size, full Android OS gives you access to the Android Marketplace, making useful as a reader and a traditional tablet.
(Bought the 7 plus before a recent trip as I did not want to take a laptop and wanted something that could fit in my purse. Also, I have never owned an Apple product, figured there was no reason to start now. Nothing against Apple, just got a better deal for something that would meet my needs.)

dont think this is a tegra 2 device ,cpu is different its a dual-core TI OMAP processor powering it clocked at a lower 1GHz which is lower than the 7.0 plus tab, but still a great price in the $200 plus bracket

Still have my nook color. Bought and sold a touchpad. It seems that tablets are starting to slide in price. I plant to get something like a 11.6" notebook with a SSD instead, it'll take 15-20 more seconds to turn on, but I will be able to do a lot more than playing games after than initial 15-20 seconds.

You're crazier, $7.99 is still a ripoff. I'm waiting for Samsung to ship me their latest tablet with all whistles and bells, especially w/ the capability to control all satellites in space, for free of charge.

The blows the Kindle fire out of the water. I don't know whether to get this or wait for the Sprint EVO 4G LTE coming out 5/7. The EVO doesn't compare, but I'd rather just consolidate devices into one.

Why is this getting red? I'm absolutely waiting for this Memo 370t/Goole Nexus tablet coming in July. It will be $150 or $200 and will be better than this one. The resolution (1280x800) is worth waiting a few months for even if the price and hardware wasn't. I figure it will be the first tablet to get OS upgrades, too, being a Google product. No more waiting for a year for Samsung to update you from 3.2 to 4.0.

MSRP doesn't make this a hot deal what kills it for me is this has a OMAP 4430 which is ~1yr old now, compared to tegra3/s4 devices coming out this month, plus the low res screen
agree it's the best of the bunch right now, but I'd wait at least until summer when the nexus tablet specs come out

IMO, the reason this post is interesting and getting read is the Asus Memo 370T rumor that the 370T is canceled and Asus is working with Google to make a cheaper version tablet. If that's true. and the Asus doesn't use the tegra 3 cpu, but a slower one, then the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 7inch is more attractive. I'd still like to get it a bit cheaper tho.

From what I read on the reviews, this tablet is coming out with the Ice Cream Sandwich on it so no waiting needed. Also the Asus Tegra 3 tablet 370T may or may not happen, it may be vaporware.

wow really disappointed at sammy for releasing a pos like this. Using a 1.5 years old mobile CPU and low resolution. How do they claim it is a 720p screen when there are only 600 pixels. There is no difference between this crap and a $100 no name table.

What I think they are referring to is Google's heavily anticipated and expected entrance into the tablet market (not as third parties using Android, but by Google branding their own flagship devices like the Nexus line). It is expected that this will be announced during their annual conference coming up, with the tablets shipping in either June/July with quad processors and very aggressive pricing. Of course this is all speculation, but I'd rather get one of those devices myself.

That's the OLD software. The NEW software reads them, writes a one line executive summary of each, and tells you whether or not you enjoyed them.

Good price point. There are a lot of people who bought Kindle Fire / Nook Tablet and modded it with CM7 / CM9. At this price point, the incentive of modding KF / NT would be significantly reduced. I bought an NT 2 months ago during BN's eBay's sale. I have modded it w/ CM7 from day one. If I didn't have a tablet now, I would jump on this one in a heart beat.

rumor is that the google tablet will not have quad core tegra3 tablet, becuase they want to make the price agressive (150-200). We will have to see what it ends up being, but I think it will probably be close to this tablet.
As for resolution, it is fine for a 7 inch device.

These are disappointing specs, especially the resolution. Besides, 7" displays belong on a phone, not on a tablet.
