Not an inverter generator. Nothing wrong with being a non-inverter unit, but it will be louder and use more fuel than an inverting unit.

CA requires spark arrestors on the exhaust, and have pollution requirements.

I'm pretty sure *California* causes cancer and they're just trying to blame it on everything else with their pimpy Jedi hand-wave and overuse of the word "dude".

Because this state is run by a bunch of Nazi's who think that they need to run every aspect of your life... for your own good of course! That's the price you pay to get your legal weed I guess, No guns, high taxes, and no generators.

When I see that something is "NOT FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA", it sweetens the deal for me.
What can I say? I like to live dangerously.

What all can I run off this? AC? Let's face it, AC is the single greatest need for a small generator.

AC???? You'd be lucky to run a hair dryer with it. Perhaps a small window mounted AC unit....

maybe... a really.. really.. efficient small one..
It's not the running wattage that will cause the troubles. it's the start up surge that will stall/kill the generator or compressor.

This is because of a spark arrestor. Without one it is possible for this unit to start a forest fire, however remote the possibility. Knowing the number and problem of forest fires in California, this is a valid precaution.

The power output is pretty low. At this level I'd just get a kilowatt inverter, plug it into the car battery and run the car. You'd probably end up with about the same performance, save space compared to storing a generator and dealing with stale fuel sitting in it.

So let me see if I have this straight, this unit, minus the spark arrestor, can start forest fires here in cali but somehow it doesn't present a problem anywhere else in the Continental United States? This isn't a Spark Arrestor issue, it's a Nanny State issue.

Yeah, you nailed it!! Just because they are the 7th largest economy in the world and the largest single state contributer to our world leading US gross domestic product, not to mention being home to dozen's of world changing corporations driving innovation over the years (Apple, Cisco, Google, Intel, Oracle, Facebook, etc.) doesn't mean California is all that !! And don't even get me started on their biotech industry!! Or the perfect climate (w/ little to no humidity) where you can relax on a beautiful beach in the morning, do a short early afternoon hike in Yosemite and then ski/snowboard real powder all in the same day.
No, my state (which nobody would probably miss in the scheme of things) is much, much better and important because we live free, and love liberty, and believe in the Constitution! Most people don't know that those Cali nazis communist socialists spearheaded our national adoption of unleaded gas, seatbelts, catalytic converters and no smoking in bars and restaurants.........all of which impinge on our God given, American Liberty!! And don't anyone sidetrack the conversation by trying to bring up all my states government welfare (farm subsidies and big oil tax breaks).............um, yeah, don't .....
Wait, did I get off track?
