This is to RECLAIM your 25GB if you had signed up before today.
That is, you had 25GB before, then today, you only had 7GB. With this, you can reclaim it back.
However, if you signed up today, you only get 7GB.
Directions: 1. Click on Manage storage 2. Then SkyDrive Free should list at 25GB like the above said if you have it 3. click Select and your storage will increase to 25GB

when you login, you can see link to upgrade to 25GB for free. Hope it helps

Yeah, same here. I didn't know there was a an online storage service that came along with a hotmail account. I guess you have to use it beforehand to get the upgrade option?

In this link, it says Scrapped in the process is the 25 gigs of free storage that Microsoft once offered to new users, now dropping that pro-bono capacity to just 7GBs, save for the lucky few that opted in before the company announced its new pricing structure
ETA: Thanks OP.. upgraded mine to 25 GB.

It used to be 25Gb free and now they're downgrading it to 7Gb. But if you want to remain at 25Gb, you have to click the link to claim it.

I manage live@edu for our school, and have seen no notification of this downgrade. But it was downgraded to 7Gb, from the previous 25Gb. I was able to do the "free upgrade", but now I need to let everyone know about this change.
"Files can be stored in the SkyDrive folder, and they will be automatically uploaded to the cloud, and synced to other computers or devices... It is actually a dramatic improvement, though. Even with the 25GB of storage, you could only sync 5GB using Live Mesh, and the maximum file size was limited to 100MB. Now, you can upload files up to 2GB, and you can keep the entire SkyDrive synced automatically."
"For users who need more space, SkyDrive is an even better deal. The cheapest option available from Dropbox for those who exceed the 2GB is a 50GB plan for $10 per month. Microsoft will offer paid plans starting at 20GB for only $10 per year. The 50GB SkyDrive plan is only $25 per year--nearly 80 percent less than the same storage capacity with Dropbox."

Does skydrive offer some means of shortening links directly without having to use tinyurl or similar? Also, what about linking directly to a file without revealing other files present?

us said: I'm confused. Wasn't skydrive already 25gb? I thought so too. We were right. I logged in and saw this:
SkyDrive's free storage is changing – claim your free 25GB
SkyDrive's free storage limit is changing to 7GB, but as an existing SkyDrive user you can keep the 25GB you currently have – if you act now.
This isn't a deal or an upgrade. This is an "act now or lose what you already had."

So it was 25GB, but for new users it is changing to 7 GB.

Thanks OP! Microsoft also released the SKYDRIVE app for the iPhone/iPad/MAC today as well. Loving it so far especially with 25gb.

This is to RESTORE your 25GB. If you signed in today, you DON'T GET 25GB nor any free upgrade.
If you had 25GB before, then you need to click on the link to get it back!

Why is this Hot? 300 MB max file size, thats laughable. 25 GB is nothing even. Whats the purpose of Skydrive, to have a bunch of your garbage in the "Cloud" LOL what a crock that Apple and Amazon has sold the American Public. We need the cloud like we need holes in our heads.
