"can i take out the hd from the enclosure and use it as an internal hd in my computer?"
If you have to ask....(it implies it might be too challenging for you) HS cases can be difficult to pry apart and you would be voiding the warranty - just some cautions for the non tech savvy wrt drives. Google is your friend - try "opening Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex". Again if you don't know how to get answers and are not handy with hardware perhaps a ready for internal installation drive is your better bet over saving a few bucks on a deal.

Some hard drive has the interface board built in to the PCB of the hard drive. That makes it incompatible to use in a PC.

if you wait for a lot of things, they will eventually become cheaper. Some folks need things now and can't wait

Please help. It won't let me apply the $25 coupon unless I remove the $19 "instant savings" coupon. That makes it $83.99 instead of $64.99. Any way to get around this? Maybe purchase in-store instead?

My order went through earlier using both coupons ($19.00 & $25). Unless Staples did something to stop it it should still work

It just let me use the $25 off. Code expired? If you copied & pasted, did you make sure not to add the extra blank character at the end, ie "0000000000000" instead of "0000000000000 "?

That was it. I finally got it to work. Thanks so much for the advice.

The whole point of the GoFlex system is that you can buy a USB 2.0, USB 3.0, eSATA, or firewire GoFlex cable, and plug it into the enclosure. The cables are actually adapters, with SATA at one end and your interface of choice at the other. The cables will work without the enclosure - just plug it into any regular SATA drive sitting on your desk. Very handy.

Only a few 2.5" drives, not any 3.5" drives like this one.

It seems Seagate has discontinued the eSATA cable STAE103 for use with GOFlex drives. Does anyone have any information on it or suggest any alternative. My laptop only has USB 2.0 but does have eSATA-USB combo port which would be faster than USB 2.0 as I understand. Thanks!

Honestly, the best option is a USB 3.0 ExpressCard if your machine has one. Just make sure you get one that includes a USB power cable so you can syphon power off from another port.
Another option is to buy a SATA to eSATA cable adapter. I did for my Mac Pro, but had to use a dremel to shave off the plastic around the SATA-side of the cable adapter, so it would clear into the FreeAgent GoFlex drives.
Seagate's GoFlex adapter cables have been a bit of a letdown, their FireWire 800 adapter also had to undergo a silent recall. (If yours feels like it's hot enough to catch fire, call Seagate and have it swapped out... of course, they didn't post a support bulletin or anything like that about that one, either :/ ).
P.S. I am in for one of the FreeAgent Turbo 500 GB's as a variant of this deal. $109 - $25 coupon = $84 for a 7200 RPM eSATA 500 GB hard drive which only requires 5W of power. Nice!

My laptop does not have ExpressCard option so can’t take that route.
I want to use the cable with 1TB Ultra-Portable GoFlex drive so will require 5W of power only. Do you think the SATA to eSATA cable adapter suggested by you will work for me? Also if you can please suggest from where to buy.
Thanks asuka for all your help!

Got mine from Amazon, but not any Prime/FSSS shippers that I could see. The right cable for you will depend on if the eSATA ports on your laptop are powered or not, definitely get a SATA to Powered eSATA cable if your laptop has one.

Just bought a code off eBay for $2. Worked like a charm.
I went to the store, there was no instant coupons off. so it is online only.

I have this in 2TB--works great. Just ordered this one, good price considering the price of hard drives. Found $25 off of $75 coupon on e-junkie for .65

I had $91 in rewards that had to be used today. Looked around and couldn't find anything that I really needed. Decide to go for this. Bought a $25 off $75 coupon for $1.75. Got the hard drive and a Memorex DVD 100/Pack spindle for $1.05 after tax. Thanks Farside!
Used CashBack but not sure if that will go through or not.
but hey, $0.046 per GB isn't bad...it was either this or $0.05 per GB at 2TB for $100

Yeah, i'm doing it all at once.
I always split them up only move a couple GB at a time....how big are they/how many?
I could understand if they were 500-1000GB backups but even then they should be split into much smaller files.
I still like the WorldBook deal better that they had last time since my WD's never failed me. I purchase few Seagates too but they always gave me trouble reading the data.

OR - you can get the Iomega Prestige 2 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive at Staples for $69.99! That's $239.99 (-) $150.00 with IN-STORE COUPON CODE 62205 (=) $89.95 (-) $25.00 off $75.00 coupon (=) $69.99. Why not go for 500GB more storage for the same price?
