Oh wow! Does it work? I have always thought PDF security is as foolproof as win rar.

FWIW - This is a useful program. As stated, it's not going to "crack" a password that prevents opening, but it does allow you to do things that extract pages. I find it useful when I want to save only a few pages from a large PDF document that someone has protected. Thanks OP.

Like when the rebate company locks their rebate form from adding form fields... so we can't fill it in electronically, so they can do the "we couldn't read your writing" excuse.

Downloaded, installed, and tested out. Looks like a nice utility to have. After installation, it pops up a window with your registration code in it. Just cut and paste that back into the program and close that window. Otherwise, it will install malware-looking crap you don't need for the program to work.

Removes Security password for CHANGES (printing, copy, etc) to PDF docs. DOES NOT Remove the encrypted password TO OPEN docs.

thanks OP..

The title of the app IS clearly misleading, but the actual functions of the "PDF Restriction Circumventer" (which is what I renamed it on my machine) are nice for those files which are restricted. I actually encounter them frequently, and they are required for parts of my profession, but make certain necessary operations (compiling, approving, etc.) very cumbersome.

My only disappointment is that it won't let you open a PDF where you DO have the user password. Those are the most nefarious. Primarily, when I pay $200-800 for a digital version of a reference, I want access to that reference.

If anyone knows of a similar version that will unrestrict/resave a PDF that has a user password, please post it. The workaround (printing to a postscript printer which is captured to a file, then re-assembled from a postscript file to a PDF) results in a complete loss of all links.

edit: BTW - what idiot programmer has the default install location on the root of the drive? Hey, 1988 called - they want their installer back!

We need one....

Not sure if I'm doing this right. Does your still say "Unregistered" and "Buy a license" on it after you've entered the code? Mine does.

UPDATE: I "registered" it 2 or 3 times and it never worked. It would always say "Register Succesful. Please restart", but then it would still say "Unregistered" when I started it again. Finally, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it *really* registered on the first try. The "Unregistered" and "Buy a license" buttons went away.

Why does anyone need this software?

Just use this: http://www.pdfunlock.com/

Upon googling the GOTD supplied "Registration Key," as expected, found that same key posted to other web-sites. As is often the case w/ GOTD software, a common (or static) key is given out to all who bother to install the product. Here's the GOTD key for PDFPasswordRecovery: FLA850510518601237

And here's the direct download link from the publisher of this product:
http://www.pdfpasswordremover.com/down/ppr.exe

If you don't trust the download link above, click on the giant "DOWNLOAD NOW" box listed here:
http://www.pdfpasswordremover.com (where the "DOWNLOAD NOW" link is the same as the one I posted above)

Thanks OP.

I downloaded it from http://www.pdfpasswordremover.com and enter GOTD key for PDFPasswordRecovery: FLA850510518601237.
But I tried to open a password-protected pdf file (I have the password for this PDF file), I encoutered the following problem:

PDF Password Remover: Run-time error '75': Path/File access error.

I haven't even gotten the chance to enter my password yet.
I also tried Drag & Drop but don't know how.

What is going on? Did I do anything wrong? Please help. Thanks.

thx

thanks butcherboy..not sure if i will ever use it but free is free! thanks again

nice, doremisoft pdf password remover for mac is also at free download

That's really great! That will help me a lot! Thanks OP!

PDF file is highly beneficial since it provides the facility of securing data from unauthorized access over the web. But, as sometimes it becomes necessary to edit the existing PDF file, user look for a PDF unlocker tool to remove the restrictions as well as password protection from the PDF file. There are various such tools available which can easily unlock PDF files and make the content editable.
