not bad for a non refurb with a built in switch. + green

just to point out, this set does not have gigabit ports, so technically your throughput maxes out at 100mbps.

FYI - There is another nice Powerline AV 200 adapter kit with a switch from Amazon right now for $49. The brand isn't as well known, but they get great reviews and I've used them myself with excellent results several times.

For some reason the $49 price isn't showing up as the main choice, you need to look at more buying options to get the $49 fulfilled by Amazon.com.

Do you know is that gigabit, as discussed above. Of course prob dictated by weakest link.

This is because Amazon estimates 2-5 weeks to fulfill the order, i.e. they don't have any on hand, so they're directing you to buy it from someone else. If you can wait 2-5 weeks, then $49 is a good deal.

Sorry about that. I ordered that way a couple hours ago already got the shipping notice already so I assumed nothing had changed.

On the gigabit ports, these are AV 200 which is full duplex 100Mbps or 100Mbps up and 100Mbps down to get 200. So the best you'll ever do is 100Mbps or more realistically around 60-80Mbps. Which is still plenty fast for any kind of AV application.

Really makes it no better than wireless then.

if you have a properly wired electrical system, this set up would be much more stable then wireless. That's just the nature of a wired connection. The only disadvantage to this system really is that any inter-network transfers will be rather slow compared to a wireless N or gigabit connection. If all you intend to do is internet streaming, then yes, it's plenty fast for that since you probably wouldn't get more than 15-20mbps from your internet provider.

Actiontec has been around a while, I used to have one of their 56k modems. Good quality controller-based design, at a time when crappy HSP Winmodems were flooding the market.

Anyway, this probably won't be the last Powerline sale we'll be seeing, due to introduction of newer-generation AV2 and Homeplug Gigabit devices.
