Is the Screen resolution good enough to play 1080P?

Yes and no.

No as is.

Yes connecting to 1080TV/monitor via HDMI out.

no thanks, CPU is too slow for me. see benchmark data here: link

OD was closed. I'll need to review the CPU before buying this after work tomorrow.

In for 1. CPU is decent for the price.

Came yesterday.... Looks great, large screen, decent keyboard feel and Blueray playing.. Under $400 not bad... May not have the latest in processors but more than adequate for surfing, email and the occasional resume writing. If you're not gaming.. Why would anyone spend more?

Last year I bought a 15" HP laptop with the same exact cpu and gpu with 4 gig ram. My son is able play some online games such as Minecraft and League of Legends with no problems so it will handle some games just not the high end stuff. That's one heck of a price on this 17".

Bought 2 on Thursday, then saw the link about upgrading to windows 8 if purchased after the 2nd. First off, how would MS know when I purchased it? Think I could go back to OD and return/repurchase to qualify (even though I'm not sold on the windows 8 "upgrade" yet)
