"As with all plan changes, please understand that they are never retroactive. Meaning, anyone who is on the 55 plan before June 6th, 2012, or renews their 55 plan before June 6th, 2012, will still get 1000mb until their July 6th renewal date. Anyone who renews their 55 plan on or after June 6th, 2012, will get the 2000mb as of that date. This is how it always is with plan changes - it has been this way on every single plan change ever done. It is impossible to "change a plan mid-cycle"."
As a comparison this plan started with 200mb at the beginning of this year. Then it was bumped to 1 GB and coming soon 2 GB.

PPC should also bump up the data by 5-10 folds on 12 plan.

Why not just Virgin Mobile, $55 a month for unlimited everything? http://www.virginmobileusa.com/cell-phone-plans/beyond-talk-plans.jsp

Or the Virgin Mobile $45 / month 1200 minutes, unlimited everything else plan?

They just need to improve their 1200 plan.
FYI:Amazon market was auto updating apps under 10MB.It took a while for me to figure out what was hogging my 100MB data cap on PP. I sent a shitty e-mail to their CEO and they changed the setting to 1MB.Still not good enough.I should be able to disable it. Google Market default setting has always been auto update over Wifi only.

DAng, why cant they up the data on the next lower plan? Still need to root to activate.
2GB seems to be the sweet spot, good move on Page's part. "The 55" is now a viable option.
However, they desperately need to improve their lower plan offerings. Particularly the "Standard" plan, where data remains an outrageous 99 cents per MB! Also some of the fees like roaming are BS in this day and age.
EDIT: (Courtesy HowardForums): Starting June 9th, a new Page Plus daily unlimited talk and text plan will not be available from the Page Plus website, but by dealers only. This plan provides unlimited talk and text for $1.50 per day for as long as the customer's cash balance lasts. There is a one-time $20 activation fee for this plan, and the number of days of usage is determined by the amount of cash added to the account (via Standard cash PINs). Data can be used for $.20/MB, and roaming will be $.20/minute on this plan. This new plan is similar to the legacy Unlimited 24/7 plan, which used to cost $2.49 or $1.99 per day. It requires activation with the same $20 activation cards, which are still in distribution. This plan is ideal for customers who may need cell phone service for a short period of time.

With the limited data plans in particular, it's a very good idea to root your phone & install a simple firewall if at all possible. Too many apps like to use data & resources without being apparent. You can choose what apps are allowed to use 3g data. I use Droidwall & it works perfectly. There are plenty of other advantages to rooting as well (ad blocking, better data tethering, improve performance, remove bloatware, etc).

Basically any non-4g 'Verizon' phone that is not prepaid will work, as long as it has a clean ESN (phone has not been reported lost or stolen).
There are even some reports of people getting Verizon iPhones on PP. There are not many of those, since nobody has hit two year plan expiration yet.
I've recently bought an HTC Incredible from CL and activated it on PP without any problem. Here is a list of android phones that work on PP. We all know the HTC Incredible (or any clean non-4G phones) can be activated on PP. They're talking about activating 4G phones on PP. I've heard of people activating their HTC Thunderbolt's on PP but from what I hear, you have to work at it.

I ditched Verizon and went to PP when they announced the limited time (That is now full time) 55 plan with 1 GB of data. I started monitoring my data usage and being a bit more data frugal on PP. Since switching, I normally have months of only 100 MB of data usage and a high month of 250 MB of data usage. I love that PP is saving me nearly $50 a month and I get the exact same experience as I did cell service wise on Verizon. I loves me some PP and with a 2 GB limit, I don't think it will be necessary to monitor my data usage any more.

I would imagine that it could be made to work. I used a Palm Pixi on Page plus for a long time, and recall seeing that it had a hotspot app, but never bothered with it. Page Plus does not really care much what you do with your data, and they do nothing to restrict anything on your phone. As a matter of fact most people use Verizon branded phones, and the only things that don't work are the Verizon branded apps that require a current Verizon account. If a phones included hotspot feature doesn't work, there is normally an app available that does the same thing.

Thanks, spdracer5g. Should have mentioned that I got both palm pixi and HP touchpad through Fatwallet. Would love to find a similar deal on a plan on here.

A few questions for you guys .... with regards to what phones work, I'm a bit of a phone dork and like to root my htc phones and add custom ROMs to them, would I still be able to do this if I were on PP? I don't really use the 4G on my TBolt so going 3G wouldn't really matter to me, would just need a new phone (will look at that list).
EDIT: Just noticed this little ditty under reasons they could terminate your account If you or any user - "modifies your Handset from its manufacturer’s specifications; or ..." do they enforce this? I think VZW says the same thing, but my 'bolt has been rooted since root has been available and my Eris was as well.
If they resell Verizon - is it REALLY as good of coverage as VZW offers? I have coverage everywhere in the northeast and wouldn't want to lose that - their map looks good, just looking for real world experience.
Can I port my # over to them? I didn't see anything on their site about that.
Finally, I'm guessing the $55 is plus taxes? Right now my VZW plan is $69/month, I get 450 minutes, plus five friends and family #'s, plus unlimited text and data (you can't get the plan I'm on), but add taxes onto the $69 of course.
Looking to find ways to save dough as my plan is up w/big red in a few months.
Thank you!

*** Yes it is really Verizon's coverage network. Same voicemail lady even.
Can I port my # over to them? I didn't see anything on their site about that.
*** Absolutely. If porting a number from Verizon, it takes just a few minutes to complete.

*** The cost is $55 total. Taxes are included in this price. You pay exactly 55 each month. Cancel at any time.

In my experience, the hotspot that is on the phone from Verizon will not work, it will start up and you can see it as available, but when you go to use it from another device, it says you have to be subscribed.
However, you can easily use something like FoxFi (app) (on most phones, there are some exceptions) and make the hotspot that way.

Yep, have one verizon iPhone 4 on the $29.99 plan. Just called and added it with customer service, no questions asked.
I switched from T-Mobile to PP 2 years ago. At the time of the switch, I did some research, and the reasons I picked PP instead of other pre-paid are because of the following. They might not apply now.
1. Verizon coverage. I don't think it is exactly the same as Verizon, but I have good experience with it. Only time I had coverage issue is when I was vacationing in AZ. I live in Virginia. 2. Bring your own device. PP seems to have less limit on what device you bring than others. Pretty much any non-4G Verizon phone is ok. I don't think iphone works either thou. 3. No crippling of data. I don't understand this fully, but from what I gathered from Howard's Forum, while some other pre-paid services say unlimited data, but cripple the data in some way. PP doesn't do that. 4. Allows roaming. If you have money in your balance, you can make a roaming call. Seems like most other pre-paid (might be all at the time I checked) once you out of the services own coverage area, it is useless. Although in the 2 years I had the phone, I only got on roaming twice.
With kitty wireless, I have fairly easy time with PP. Over past 2 years I been happy with it and just switched to an android phone (an used X off craig's list). If it could increase the 1200 plan to 200 mb, it would be perfect for me.

Are these phones listed in ebay cannot be used with PP then? They should work with PP as long as they have clean ESN right?
Yes, but the key word is "should". PP does not officially support anything other than the phones it sells. So, if something does not work, you can't call them for help. But lots of people use unsupported smartphones that came from Verizon plans.
Google for it, there are many people reporting success. But you are on your own.

All my phones have been rooted and with Inc 2, I was changing ROM weekly. So, no issues there.
Porting # in is FAST (2 hours for my wife's T-mo account). You can do it when you register, just use their "Activate with # port" form on their website.
$55 is $55. no more. Now, if you buy PIN from some resellers, they do give 5% to 12% (I hear that 12% require certain amount of $$ being spent with them and using direct deposit) discount. 5% to 7% discount is normal, so actually, you will most likely pay LESS than $55 advertised.
I believe you can sell your grandfathered plans for some $$
