Welcome to FW, I hope you will have a wonderful stay. Your first Green from me. Enjoy!!

Woohoo, thanks!! =D

Good price thanks !

Ugh, thought this was the one that had 1080p. Still a great deal though!

Thanks!

If only it had a Slingplayer app. The slingplayer app sucks on Boxee, but its the only thing out there really.

ARGH...was about to pull the trigger on the 2 XD but not sure 1080 is worth the extra $20 at this point.

Had a Roku 2 XS, returned it. Just not reliable enough and the Plex app was atrociously buggy. Went back to my HTPC.

Woot has the Refurb Roku XD Streaming 1080p for $50 today.

Target has the Roku 2 XD for $69.99

So this is basically a powerful media player? Do you need to pay monthly fee for the channels? TIA

Everything about Roku LINK

Be careful. I have a Roku and I love it, but have been having some issues with the TV flickering every so often. Just found out that the warranty on the new units is only 90 days. Seriously, Roku?

Hopefully it's just a cable issue.

Were you using the official Plex app that was just released a month or two ago or the beta app? I loaded the official app on my moms and played around for 30 minutes and thought it worked pretty good streaming over Comcast 12MB HSI from my house across town.

Most are free. Some are paid monthly (Netflix, hulu) or paid as used (Amazon pay per view model) or paid once.

+1 The official app is significantly better than the old beta one.

Thanks, ordered

Several other outlet type places have the rebuilts..... know two folks that bought them
wished they never heard about them. Buy new, no matter who is selling it.

Plex app did have several short falls before some of the code was rewritten. I don't
know if it is perfect now or not but from what I hear people are much happier with
it.

does anyone know if this has a usb port that can be used to watch mkv or similar formats?

I have this one. This is Roku 2 LT model. It does not has any USB ports.

It works great with Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Very nice, needed something new for Prime and Netflix

I bought new Roku 2 XS from an Amazon deal here @79.99 bux ~2 months ago, ok but quite annoying that many "channels" play ads every single time something is viewed. So at times more than if you were to view that site on your PC/tablet. We got sick of the constant 5 hr energy ads that sometimes loop, meaning you see ad, then it waits to get content but instead of content reloads ad! This often is endless loop for some channels or sub portions.

I am realizing Roku is basically just a list of bookmarks with affiliate codes that one can select in serial + or - sequence only, so that certain content websites (movies, shows, etc) based on the affiliate code that we do not see, allow some content to play with specified amounts of ads thrown in. Not quite thrilled with this but is better than nothing I guess, and some channels are better than others in amounts of ads. Annoying bcos even several otherwise free sites like NASA's with Roku show with pre load ads

This is arguably the better deal...especially if you want 1080p. On a side note, are there any features the HD will get but the older w00t one won't?

Refurbed from Roku carry same 90 day warranty as new ones!

Target has the Roku 2 XS which has usb port on sale for $89.99

Nice price!

Looks good. Thank you. I like it.

For that, the Western Digital WD TV Live is a better choice. Put your media library on an external USB drive, and you're good to go. Or stream wireless if you can get that function to work on your wireless network.

That said, the Roku has a much better streaming channel selection. For example Roku has Amazon instant video (free if you have Amazon Prime) and the WD doesn't. Roku also has more free channels than WD.

But for video file format versatility, WD TV is the hands down winner.

I own the WD TV unit, but not the Roku. I did a lot of comparison before I bought. Both are good choices, but with slightly different feature sets.

Can you stream wirelessly to your Roku? If you have movies on your PC Hard Drive that is? If so, no need for usb port really.

Currently $84.95 at Amazon so you can save $5 plus tax and shipping.

It can stream through an application like Plex on your PC, and then you add the Plex channel to your Roku. But this requires a computer with enough CPU to transcode the video files on the fly, since it doesn't directly support MKV playback (at least my version doesn't).

I've got a Roku, various WD media player models, and a HTPC running XBMC. Each has it's advantages.

GBTV is a breeze with Roku too.

Wow, great prices, have ordered.

Great Deal!

Thanks for sharing that, price is ok, the most important thing is that i like this product.^ ^

Official app. It was buggy as hell. Surround sound didn't work, constant crashing either the entire Roku box or the Plex app itself. It will work for some things fine, others it just crashed. One bug was changing the video streaming type inside of the Movie area would crash it back to Roku main page.
