Food Lion launched an extraordinarily generous promotion yesterday that will save you an automatic 20 percent on gift cards to select retailers.
Here's how:
Now through June 19 at Food Lion stores, when you spend $50 on gift cards for Belk, Lowe's Home Improvement, iTunes, Bass Pro Shops or Mastercard, you'll get $10 off your bill -- instantly.
There are no coupons or rebates involved. As I understand it, you will simply pay $40 for a $50 card. (Shoppers are limited to one gift card deal per day.)

Stack this 20% Discount with a 10% off mover's coupon from the USPS. After this deal expires you can also get a $50 Lowes gift card through Discover Cash Back program (for $45 worth of Cash Back credit), then stack that with the 10% coupon.

The Mastercard GC has a $4.95 fee attached, so the total is $44.95 for a $50 GC.
Still, this is fatwallet and I got one

Has anybody confirmed this deal? I went into my local Food Lion and asked them about it and they looked at me as if I'd been smoking crack. Do you have to use an MVP card to get the discount?

I picked up 25 Lowes gift card for $40 each and 5 master cards in seperate transactions from my local food lion. You need to use your mvp card. Ask cashier not to use his mvp card. Thanks op

Remember to use your Chase Freedom card if you have one to get 5% off your purchase (assuming your store takes credit cards for gift card purchases).

In practice FL is not imposing the daily limit at least for me. I buy 10 MC's in individual transactions, must use MVP card each transaction to get the deal, go out to the parking lot and crack them open, go back in and use them to buy 10 more until all are gone in the store. Ending up with a pile of cards each with $5.05 on them. Don't ask the cashiers about the deal they dont know about it, just go and do it! They restocked one store yesterday so that is good news.

Anyone have success in purchasing more than one per day/visit?
Also, could you please provide a link to the offer, or a pdf of the flyer?

Thanks!
-Only $50 GC's -There are multiple people on other sites claiming success in buying multiple GC's per day, but only 1 per transaction.

Some of the managers and/or cashiers will give you a hard time about needing to use a debit card or cash, so if you buy the M/C with cash you might not be able to roll it over into a Lowes card. Depends on the cashier though because their system will allow it if the cashier will put it through

Depends on the cashier though because their system will allow it if the cashier will put it through There shouldnt be any problem using the prepaid to pay for the Lowes card, even if they insist on debit. Unless they consider you opening the MC and immediately spending it to be suspicious.
Yesterday I was able to do this without issue, cleaning out one store's Lowe's cards (took about 20 minutes at the service desk, ringing up one at a time). But the next day I went to the store on the other side of town, and the register cut me off after one purchase - it wasnt the employees, the register simply wouldnt add the $10 discount. Went back to the first store (that still had the MCs in stock), and it wouldnt add the $10 discount either. So while it had been possible to buy multiple cards at once, apparently at some point they programmed in a one discount per MVP card per day limit.
I havent had the balls to ask the cashier to just start scanning the unissued MVP cards they have stashed under the register; the one store that I know the people well enough to ask, I already bought out their inventory....

I've bought a healthy number of $50 Lowe's and $50 MC's. Now, most stores in my area are sold out of these. I tried 2x $25 Lowe's GC's. Works fine: also rings up for $40. There are plenty left around here!

Good to know! I was at the store closest to me today and bought last couple $50's ( had to use two different MVP cards, looks like they are limiting it to one per day now, wasn't the case a few days ago). I will try the two $25 card option tomorrow
