WalMart is selling Apple iPhone 4s 16GB, Black or White, AT&T or Verizon for $138. After Bonus $50 Gift Card if purchased 6/10 - 6/17/2012. Here is the link:
VZW customers should remember that if you don't get onto an unlimited LTE data plan before Verizon changes the "grandfathering" rules, you are probably never going to get unlimited. I've read you'll be able to keep unlimited by paying full price for the phone, but I doubt they'll let you change your plan from 3G to LTE and keep it.

I heard that Sprint still has the unlimited plan on their iPhone. Completely unrelated to this deal, but worth knowing.

Tired of waiting for new iphone. Is this the best price around for existing verizon customer who is eligible for an upgrade? Will others price match?

Request an unlock from AT&T now, then sell it n your own. You'll get more for an unlocked iPhone.

This happened last time WalMart lowered the iPhone 4 to 120$, then BAM! iPhone 4S came out.

If anyone thinks they can buy an iPhone for $138 without a contract, they deserve the wasted trip to WalMart. Kind of like when you buy a case for a phone, and its $20, and because of legal reasons, companies have to write 'phone not included'.

Virgin Mobile is offering the iPhone later this month. I pay $40 ($38 actually AC) a month for 1200 minutes, unlimited text and web. It's a big chunk up front to purchase the phone, but it pays for itself in a very short time. A few years ago I was paying $103/mth on ATT which is $2472 w/ a 2 year contract. (I don't know what the cost is now, more I'm sure) I pay $456/yr with VM. Say the phone is $549. It pays for itself in under a year. So for the 2 years you are locked into a contract, I pay $1461 and you pay $2472 (plus $100-$200 when you got the phone).
Now beyond the iPhone debate, I actually am considering their new HTC EvoV 4G for $299. I can use it as a hot spot for my iPad and save $20/month by canceling my service for the iPad.

There is some discussion that Apple will announce the roll-out timeline for iPhone5 this week or next week.
Probably the reason for the price drop on the iPhone 4s.

I doubt that is the case...a more likely scenario is the price to manufacture the iPhone 4S has fallen since last year, and since Apple is gearing up manufacturing on the new iPhone WalMart got a better price by committing to buy a lot of the iPhone 4S.

Sounds like great deal. Question: can I buy Sprint/virgin iphone off market (eBay or CL) and use this with Virgin Mobile plan?

Only VM branded phones will work with VM service. Be sure the phone you buy is a VM phone, not a Sprint or any other carrier.

I just looked up what it would cost me for service with ATT. 900 mins, 3gb web and texting is $110/month, PLUS over 20% in fees and charges. So about $135. That sucks! So that comes to $3240 for a 2 yr contract as opposed to my service with VM that costs $912 for 2 years!!!

This offer is only available for new 2 year contracts or if you're eligible for an upgrade.

Perhaps my poor grammar, pre-coffee, was confusing.
I was saying either this week or next week will probably come an annoucement from Apple as to when the iPhone5 will go on sale.
Not to be confused with the iPhone 5 actually being for sale this week or next week; just an annoucement made of when it will be for sale.

I understood what you meant, I still disagree. Why would apple cannabalize iPhone sales for the next 3 months by giving people a reason to wait?
IMO this is a non-deal...I wouldn't want to get locked in to the 4s for 2 years to save $61 when the new iPhone is probably 3 months away.

Waiting for the new iPhone would also force verizon customers on the new pricing plan. Buying now and adding to the existing family plan may make sense to some customers
