Take a few extras! Coinstar is notorious for mis-counting!

Coin Star charges for use of its service. I believe it's some where around 5% to 10%.

Just put in two twenty dollar bills...then you don't have to schlep coins around.

Because the Michael's sale ended on 6/17, and this one is good through the end of the month. Plus, it's easier for some to find a Coinstar instead of a Michael's.

Sales tax?
There shouldn't be sales tax on gift cards because you pay the tax when they're redeemed for actual products.

Most coinstar machines do not take bills.
Getting dollars coins would make more sense then getting quarters however.
