Been watching for a good deal on either a hybrid or 7200 2.5" sata.... missed that quick sellout on the ShellShocker 320GB for $40 a few weeks back and it's been slim pickings since (unless you want a 1TB or SSD). Didn't see this in my own emails so, glad to catch it via your post!

It is a mix of SSD and regular hard drive. Still a great improvement compare to traditional drive but not as fast as SSD.
Newer version out of 750 gig with 8gb ssd. Deals run at about $150. $69.99 is the cheapest I have ever seen this drive. I got mine quite some time back and really like it. Very nice price OP.

I think my lappy 5400 rpm drive reports a WEI of 5.9.

I had two computers kill 4 OCZ SSD's. All were replaced under warranty except the last one which I threw into the trash. SSD's seem to fail catastrophically. That's why I switched to they hybrid drive which has survived many "cold-pull-the-battery" reboots on the same laptop that killed several of my SSDs. (The SSD's died just trying to wake up the laptop from hibernation.) So now I enjoy the (almost) performance of an SSD with the storage space and reliability of spinning platters.

If you're using this on a laptop, go for full SSD for the power savings. If on a desktop, consider the hybrid for $ savings and future growth.

Did you use the unofficial bios on your T61 to enable SATA II speeds?

I would go with the SSD in that case.
This is a great drive, but if you have the budget, a Momentus XT 750 GB is a much better option. It benefits from being a second-generation XT, and has much better performance as a result.
Not that this drive is bad, it's the fastest 500 GB HDD out there.
YOU MUST FLASH THE FIRMWARE TO SD28 OR LATER. OLDER FIRMWARE VERSIONS HAVE A DATA LOSS ISSUE, WHICH HAS BEEN FULLY CORRECTED IN SD28 AND UP.
Also, a few laptops may have louder than normal noise with this drive. Again, it was corrected in the XT2. My girlfriend made me move this drive to my Mac Pro, since in my MacBook the noise was too much for her. Only some machines experience the "lag spike" noise issue, and from what I can tell, it's mostly MacBooks.
(And yes, I am grateful every day that my girlfriend knows enough tech to complain about lag spikes on hard drives).

For high mileage drivers, Prius can break even after a few years. Especially Prius c.
For high data users, the Momentus XT will break even instantly.

This one has SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ. Usually, SSD has up to 6.0Gb/s. Does this make much difference for the performance?

While SSDs do have their issues OCZ has had more than its share of issues. I have had several SSDs in service for more than a year, two in my home server (Intel SSDs) getting 25 GBs a day of writes and they have been rock solid. So I would be a bit careful extrapolating your experience particularly with OCZ to all SSDs. That said this is a good deal if you need the space over the speed of a pure SSD.

I own 2 of these drives and one of then have a high number of "End To End Detection" errors (93), based on HD Tune the drive should be replaced, but HD Sentinel shows the health at 93% and remaining lifetime of 1000 days or more. Don't know which one to believe, Seagate forums have an outgoing battle on this issue.

The dynamic aspect of how the SSD part is handled makes me wonder whether having 2 of these would be an advantage.
