You should do you research before purchasing this service, as the blackout restrictions make the service not good for many. But if you have "transplanted" and want to follow your home team from afar, this is a great way to do it.

I paid $120 for entire season for the premium package. The premium package gives you your choice of feeds. That way, you can always listen to the guys who call your team, as opposed to the home team.
$50 for well over 1/2 the season is a better value. Probably not worth the hassle to cancel and sign up for this, but it's a good deal.
Has anyone checked out using their website? Ive gotten errors on 3 different computers on different accounts and payment methods.
When I call in I get morons in india who cant help me unless I already have service.
Its never been so hard to hand someone my money before.

This is our first year with it, and having heard mixed reviews we didn't want to commit to the full year. We have already paid $75 and now another $50 for the rest of the season, so in retrospect we did OK.

Its never been so hard to hand someone my money before.You probably hit some fraud tripwire and landed on a blacklist. It'll take some human intervention to fix that, if my guess is correct.

JD2010, I was able to check out using Firefox.
Gotcha. As long as you're not within a 500-mile (+/-) radius of your favorite team's market, it's a great deal.

IIRC, they also check your zip code from your credit card billing info. So get your out-of-state brother or family member to pay *and* setup the proxy. Too much of a hassle for me. You'd think they could actually make more money by getting more people to watch the games and all of the advertising instead of restricting the audience. It's positively medieval.
Besides that, I'm a Padres fan so there's no reason to watch anyway. I'll stick with crappy AM radio.
I finally got it to work on attempt 15 or so yesterday... just a terribly programmed website.

This is untrue. I've singed up with my own information and used a proxy in previous years. If they blacked you out based on a billing address zipcode, what would be the point of MLBTV for someone who travels and wants to keep track of their home team. Blackouts are only based on IP address.

The local broadcasters pay big bucks (the current TV with the Angels for instance is 3 billion over 20 years) for exclusive TV rights, that is the problem and that is why there are blackouts. There simply isn't enough people signing up at $150 per year for MLB TV that would equal what each team gets in their TV deals. Over time I think this will change, but for now it is what it is.

Yeah, I get that, but it doesn't always work out so cleanly. I live in NC and am blacked out for Braves, Reds, Orioles, and Nationals. I get most/all of the Braves and Reds games via cable, but the channel that airs the Orioles and Nationals games has been in a legal dispute with Time Warner Cable since 2009 I believe and during this ongoing dispute, I do not get the channel to show those games. Yet still, I cannot watch Orioles or Nats on mlb.tv, and by extension, MLB Network (why does MLB apply blackout to their own network?!).
